The first thing you'll notice is that this device picks up fingerprints like nothing else out there. While most tablets let you easily wipe them away, this one makes you scrub with a good bit of effort to get the screen clean again. Not a huge thing, but annoying. This is an unboxing of the HP TouchPad. Here are some more specs on the device - Size & weight: It's small and light, yet absolutely huge. The TouchPad measures 9.45" wide by 7.48" high by 0.54" deep. It weighs in at approximately 1.6 pounds (that's 740 grams if you're counting). So it's the perfect size to contain the sum of all human knowledge. And still have room for movies, games, apps, websites, email, texts, and just about anything else you can think of. Hey Internet-- Here is some (older) touchpad progress from Friday. The Cyanogenmod team wanted to share it with the public to bring attention to our need for a few more touchpads (for developers currently working without them). As you can see from this quick demo, we've been working hard and have made progress. Since this video was created last week, the build has been more "tabletized" (tablet tweaks added, etc.), lvm support has been added. The touchscreen driver issue is now the focus of our attention. Our ultimate vision is to create a *multiboot* solution where the end user will be able to boot into WebOS, Cyanogenmod, and/or other OSes. This appears to be very possible, and we have discussed several potential implementations with our new friends in the WebOS development community to make it easy for an end-user to set up. For the moment though, we need about 4 tablets, as we have talented and experienced developers who cannot contribute effectively due to a lack of hardware. If you have an extra touchpad and are willing to help the cause, please let us know in the comments below. A BIG CAVEAT-- PLEASE DO NOT ASK FOR ETAS. For the uninitiated, this is the #1 rule for Cyanogenmod. It will certainly be a long while before our goals become reality. MobileBurn.com - AT&T has announced a version of the HP TouchPad tablet that will be running on its HSPA+ network. The TouchPad that will be carried by AT&T is virtually the same as the Wi-Fi model that was released on July 1, but it has the aforementioned HSPA+ radio in it and a faster 1.5GHz, dual-core processor. HP says that the webOS-powered tablet is capable of reaching download speeds of up to 21Mbps. The AT&T model will have 32GB of internal storage. This is a quick, high level overview of some of the very basic features found in the HP TouchPad. I bought mine on August 20, 2011. My goal for putting this together (last night) was to show how WebOS is different from iOS and Android, and also how easy it is to navigate. Everyone always talks about lack of apps. The TouchPad has a very familiar 9.7-inch display with 1024 x 768 pixels of resolution. Anyone who has used an Apple iPad will instantly feel right at home. The TouchPad is powered by a dual-core, 1.2GHz processor with 1GB of RAM, though that did not prevent it from being slow and sluggish at times, as webOS devices are wont to do.
