HTC Titan Hardware Review

Full specs: bit.ly Full Titan review is up! bit.ly The HTC Titan is indeed a large device thanks to its 4.7" Super LCD WVGA panel. It's only slightly larger in terms of width and height when compared to a similar 4.3"-screened device. The Titan is made from metal, glass, and plastic, granting it a high-quality feel. Relative to other phones, the Titan has a relatively low pixel density on the screen, at just 198 PPI. You can indeed see pixels, but most people won't notice. I'm Switching to WIndows Phone. Yup, You Read That Right.

Why I'm Switching to Windows Phone We often get caught up in the hype of what the next flagship smartphone will be, whether its an Apple or Android device. I'm guilty, I'll admit. Often it's specs this, screen that, camera, resolution, etc. Working at TechnoBuffalo, I've been fortunate enough to test and play with almost all of the top smartphones, past and present. As a result, I've gotten an eclectic taste for what each company has to offer, hardware and OS-wise. But recently things have seemed dull, unexciting, too much of the same thing. I'm not afraid to say that I've primarily been an iPhone user since 2007. As a whole, the hardware/software experience is one of the best on the market today, and one that has satisfied my inner geek for quite awhile. Until it started to get boring, and too small (for me). The same home screen, icons, walled garden. I've given Android a go as well, and love the customization it offers, but I still wanted something different. That's when my attention started focusing in on Windows Phone. Previously, the OS was nothing to write home about, and in many ways it lacked the polish capable of competing against Android and iOS. Then Mango showed up in a 4.7-inch package. Galaxy Nexus HSPA+ Hardware Review & Specifications

Each year, several dozen smartphones land on our collective desks. They come in different shapes and sizes, boast different features and sell at different price points. We take each of them for a spin and review most of them, but only a handful really stand out. This is especially true with Android handsets, where incremental updates appear to be the modus operandi. Every now and then a device comes along that we really look forward to getting our hands on. Google's line of Nexus smartphones falls into this category, setting the new standard for Android each year. There's absolutely no doubt that the Galaxy Nexus is a big phone. Sure, it's not Galaxy Note large, but it's a smidgen taller (and narrower) than the HTC Titan. As such it dwarfs its predecessor, the Nexus S. While this could be an issue for some folks, we didn't have any trouble fitting the handset in our pockets. Despite its size, the Galaxy Nexus manages to be quite thin (8.94mm / 0.35in) and light (135g / 4.76oz). As a result, it feels wonderful in hand. Design-wise, the Galaxy Nexus looks like what we imagine would happen if we stacked a Nexus S and a Galaxy S II and flattened them with a rolling pin. Last year's shiny black lacquer gives way to a satiny gunmetal gray finish that manages to be at once more refined and more understated. Build quality is typical Samsung -- the plastic construction is durable but looks and feels cheap for such a flagship device. In front, the Galaxy Nexus is almost identical ...

AT&T HTC HD7S Hardware Tour and HD7 Comparison

More News/Reviews Here: bit.ly As with most Windows Phone 7 devices, the HTC HD7S is running a 1Ghz Snapdragon QSD8250 processor with 576Mb RAM, 512MB ROM, and 16Gb of storage. The 4.3" Super LCD screen has a 480x800 pixel resolution and 4 point multi-touch. You've also got the usual WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1, Assisted GPS, 5Mp camera with dual LED flash, 1230mAh battery, 3.5mm stereo headphone jack, and a Micro-USB 2.0 port. The device dimensions are 68 x 122 x 11.2 millimeters, and it weighs 162 grams. What's different about this device is its Super LCD screen that's supposed to be better than the older LCD screen on the HD7. The HD7S also has some improvements in the camera as well as the hardware buttons (thankfully!) The hardware buttons on the HD7S, and especially the camera button, are now actually usable. The camera button's half-press is easy to feel and the full press is much more distinguishable than the older HD7. The power button has a nice click to it as well. Unfortunately capacitive buttons are still capacitive buttons. Now what about that screen? The brightness seems about the same as the older HD7, but the color reproduction definitely looks better on the HD7S. The blacks are a bit blacker as well, but the whites are more grey, and the older HD7 clearly has a better range of contrast as you'll notice in our display tests. The HD7S also does not handle continuous tones very well. Ugly lines (banding) show up in graphic blends and gradients. You'll see ...

HTC Sensation XL Review & Specification

The HTC Sensation XL has landed, leaving a sizable footprint behind. While it picks up the naming convention from HTC's previously dual-core flagship series and some Beats audio accreditation on the way, it looks pretty damn familiar to another member of the family. Yes, the family's Windows Phone flagship, the Titan certainly tickled our fancy -- no other phone had landed on that nascent OS with such a screen. But the Sensation XL faces phones both bigger (and only slightly smaller) in the increasingly crowded world of Android. At around $723 (£450), is the XL's single-core processor enough? Is that glossy WVGA screen still sharp enough at this size? How does this one compare to previous Sensations, and perhaps more importantly, Samsung's even bigger not-so-heavyweight? The HTC Sensation XL bears a more than passing resemblance to its Windows Phone cousin, the Titan. In fact, most of the technical specifications are identical, with matching 4.7-inch screens, identical camera specifications and and generally the same look and feel. There are some differences; the XL is another Beats-branded handset, and arrives with a pair of Dre-endorsed in-ear buds, and there are subtle differences to the shaping of the handset. The Sensation XL has some sizable heft to it, making it yet another handset pushing the boundaries of how much touchscreen we can fit into our collective pockets. Hardware-wise, much of what we've already said about the Titan holds true here. In fact, it ...

Galaxy Nexus HSPA+ First Impressions

Wow... The Galaxy Nexus. It's finally here, in our eager little hands, and it's delicious -- just like Ice Cream Sandwich, in fact. Our review unit is the same unlocked HSPA+ version we briefly played with in Hong Kong and is running Android 4.0.1. We've only spent about a day with Google's newest superphone and we're already hard at work on a full review, but we wanted to share some raw, immediate, first impressions -- after the break. The first thing we noticed upon opening the generic white packaging is that this latest Nexus is a large phone, with a footprint similar to the HTC Titan. It's also pleasantly light and thin, and the bezel is small thanks to the lack of hardware buttons. Build quality is typical Samsung -- durable if not somewhat plasticky. The Nexus inherits design cues from its various Galaxy S II cousins, including the textured battery cover (which is a little difficult to snap back on), but sheds the usual black for a gunmetal shade of gray. We're happy to confirm that the Galaxy Nexus is indeed the first Android device with a pentaband HSPA+ radio -- we've successfully tested both T-Mobile USA and AT&T SIMs with our handset. Hurray! Initial setup was quick and painless. We logged in with our Google ID and password, and to our surprise, the Nexus started downloading and installing all of our purchased apps (in addition to syncing our email, calendar and contacts). It also asked if we wanted to use Google+ on that account. As expected, Samsung isn't ...
