This is a sequel to my first video (www.youtube.com showing off my HTPC setup and man cave. Since my first video I've bought a house, built a new cave, got a new HTPC and migrated to XBMC. I got a lot of questions about my rig in the previous video so I'll get the specs out of the way: AMD Athlon II X2 245 Regor Gigabyte GA-MA785GM-US2H Wintec AMPX 4GB PC2 6400 Sapphire Radeon HD 5750 The XBMC skin is Aeon Phil65, and the version of XBMC is 9.11 RC1. One of the things I didn't get to talk about was EventGhost, which has replaced Girder for my automation. This is what the Firefly interfaces with to get things going on the PC. EventGhost has a more modern interface than Girder, is arguably easier to use, and is 100% free. My migration to this application has gone off smoothly. Swapping displays a little less so, for the reason that MS switched up how priorities get handled in Win7. I now have to actively disable a screen and set the other as primary, which is a bit more cumbersome than anticipated. D3D also doesn't play nicely with secondary displays. I'm still working out a solution to automate this a little easier. Aside from that I apologize for the brevity of the ending, I needed to keep it under 10 minutes or risk running into an episode 2 for only 30 seconds more worth of video. After many months of R&D I put together a wife approved media center. I utilized some registry hacks to force windows to act the way i wanted to. Winlirc, Semerec PCS-1 and the IRToy gave my HTPC the IR features that needed to be controlled from the couch. EventGhost works like a beast on the background converting Winlirc remote codes to hotkey to control all software, plus software automation is a must on a HTPC. XBMC 11 is the way to go is you are building a HTPC, After the big letdown of Boxee dropping PC support team XBMC save the day with Eden! So far I have not seen A HTPC on YouTube that pulls all this features together. I use either theRii Mini i6 or my Fios remote Control.

In This video i explain what i had to do to get a wake on lan setup going with the the ceton infinitv 4 card and windows media center. The intel network card is the Intel PWLA8391GT Desktop Adapter PRO/1000 GT and here is a link to Waka Install Files code.google.com I hope this works as well for you as it has worked for me. Just to be clear, You still use your on board network for everything. The intel card is just for WOL. Everything else functions through the other.

I also used eventghost to program my remote. With the remote I can toggle from xbmc to Windows Media Center where I can play various game ROMS using emulators for nintendo 64, nintendo and super nintendo (this is done by using the gametime plugin for wmc and programing a wired gamestop xbox360 controller). I also have the hulu desktop plugin and xbmc plugin for wmc so I can launch both programs from wmc if needed. You can also watch Netflix from wmc with a subscription and both WMC and XBMC are able to stream online tv shows.
