Recently i have been doing heaps of work so only got to try my cam after work! anyway... Finally i have been able to edit something up just for show. The tricks again are not anything i would use for a sampler but it is just to show my new cam, This was just for me to experiment with Vegas 9, And make some property + Render presets for Vimeo/YoutubeHD. Anyway the other day i received my new ' Canon Hv40 ' , due to being winter i got to film a quick 5 min of some tricks after work before the sun went down! I also finished work in the middle of the day today so i managed to go out and film some more for the sake of having a trick(which i love doing whenever i can) and just collecting some more footage to play with. This will be the last footage i release for a while as im starting to now film for my Official Sampler! (I may release small bits of footage for certain reasons but not full sessions).

Hey guys! I'm excited to say that I got my HV40! Me and a friend went out to shoot the sights and her. I filmed this at 24(F) which is native 24p mode progressive, and I edited with Sony Vegas Platinum 9 Pro Pack. Colour corrected with Vegas. It is isn't great, but it was done really quickly! Tutorial : exposure lock trick got to www.youtube.com Shot inside the Bird Kingdom main aviary in Niagara Falls Canada. Main aviary source of light comes from outside through the glass ceiling. This particular day was cloudy and rainy. Good opportunity to test out the performance of the Canon hv40 in low lighting conditions. Used the exposure lock trick (photo button trick) to avoid the grainy look caused by the camera's automatic gain control. Camcorder setting was set on full HD.

Canon HV40 w/ JAG35ST and 50mm Nikon 1.8 Just got the 35MM adapter, wanted to test it outdoors. I love it, the only qualm I have is the grain from the focus screen. It's not bad in some shots, but in others its quite noticeable. Oh well, not bad for a $100 adapter. I uploaded this for people interested in buying the JAG35ST. Sorry for the shakiness, I'm working on fabricating dual handles on the sides of the Shrigg Rig to reduce it. I got the Canon HV40 a couple days ago, this is a compilation of some of the better test shots I got. some of the shots use a wide angle lens, some are the standard hv40 lens. All shots have at the very least been mildly colour corrected.

Here are some clips to give you an idea of how the Canon HV40 handles low light, color saturation and auto exposure changes etc in native 24f (24p) mode, I shot this in India and Nepal in summer of 2009. Settings: Daylight automatic Night manual exposure, 3 ticks down on the slider Adobe Premiere CS3 No effects have been added nor any tweaks, straight out of camera. Rendered to 24fps 720p Quicktime.

Simple test shots and focus depth tests during the afternoon. Still working with Media Composer v3.0 to figure out the best workflow workaround for 1080i/24p HDV considering v3.0 only has 1080i/60i HDV.
I bought the first video camera couples of days ago, and my decision on Canon HV40 was formed thanks to all the test videos out there. :D So I think I should do the same thing for ppl who are interested in this cam. Footage was recorded on 27.09.1010 in Helsinki, the Capital of Finland, edited in Adobe Premiere CS5 and uploaded on the same day. The cam has Wide Conversion Lens WD-H43 attached. A month ago I made an apple store video update. Well, here's a "behind the scenes" so to speak. If you're really extroverted, love apple, or NYC, or are just curious to see it in 1080p at 24fps then this video is for you. I was surprised to see how many people from France were there. I mean, I know it's the poor man's Louvre but I was still surprised. If you listen closely you can hear them speaking French. I chatted with some of them, however I speak post-vulgate french (Old French) which is akin to having someone coming up to you and speaking medieval English. "How those applesellers did ellen freme computers ae apple" (Old English) And there are some words that haven't been included like Computer Store, YouTube or Elevator. Well, they got a kick out of it. Did you know that McDonald's second largest market is in France? Although, no self-respecting Franc, Francophile, or Gallophile would ever admit to that.
