Matt Corwin is a former military police officer who was attending Los Angeles City College while on injured reserve leave from the Army before being reactivated. He was active in conservative politics on campus. On April 23, 2007, someone from his school called the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department and told Detectives about Matt's MySpace webpage, which depicted numerous legal firearms, as well as videos of Mr. Corwin shooting at a range. From there, Matt's horror story began. Now, the California Rifle and Pistol Association (CRPA) Foundation, in cooperation with National Rifle Association (NRA) News, has released a video documenting Matt's experience, and the outlandishness of California's law banning certain semi-automatic sporting firearms. Twenty years after it's passage, the law has only a legacy of injustice. The compelling video, "A Legacy of Injustice," is posted at www.youtube.com California law essentially bans the possession of certain firearms designated as "assault weapons." But the term "assault weapon" has no meaning in technical firearm parlance. It is a purely legal term, arbitrarily defined by statute and administrative regulations and contrary to common sense. As a result, there is a tremendous amount of confusion about what constitutes an "assault weapon." Artist: Injustice Song: Winds Of Change Album: The Cursed Earth demo Year: 1989 Track #: 2 of 3 Hailing from the Canarsie section of Brooklyn, New York, Injustice were a old school death metal band formed in 1986 who included two members that will later pursue successful rapping careers (Ron Braunstein and Bill Braunstein, respectively better known as Necro and Ill Bill.) They were in their early teen years, with Ron being about 13 years old and Bill being about 16 years old (both pictured to the right in the first few seconds of this video.) On this demo, they played a death/thrash metal style while on their last demo, "Inhuman Conditions" (released 1990) was more straight death metal. The band was comprised of: Bill Braunstein (aka Ill Bill) - Bass, Vocals Ron Braunstein (aka Necro) - Rhythm/Lead Guitar Mike Nabatov - Lead/Rhythm Guitar Mike Palmeri - Drums Evidently, they split up around the release of their last demo because they felt like they weren't getting anywhere with the band, and half of the band (Necro and Ill Bill) began stepping into hip-hop careers. Through their short lived career, they did open at shows (mainly the legendary Lamours in Brooklyn) for bands like Obituary, Biohazard, Napalm Death and Sepultura. To this day, both Necro and Ill Bill are still hip-hop artists and are increasingly growing in popularity today, collaborating with hip-hop and metal artists alike.

From www.witness.org & SAF | The video chronicles the lives and injustices against the Akhdam women in Yemen. The 'Akhdam' , singular Khadem, meaning "servant" in Arabic, are a social group in Yemen, distinct from the majority by their darker skin and African descent. Although they are Arabic-speaking and practicing Muslims, they are regarded as non-Arabs and designated as a low caste group, frequently discriminated against and confined to unskilled and menial labor. In a society already riddled with patriarchy and poverty, the distain and discrimination against the Akhdam renders Akhdam women easy targets of violence and abuse. Akhdam women are subject to hate-based attacks and sexual assaults without any type of legal or social recourse. This video, produced by Sisters Arab Forum for Human Rights and WITNESS, features the stories and voices of three women, Haddah, Qobol, and Om Ali. Their stories of violence, injustice and forced poverty uncover the legacy of discrimination the Akhdam live with and the necessity of urgent action against these atrocities.
