There's no denying that the 2012 Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 was one of the biggest stars of the 2011 Geneva Auto Show. It had all the ingredients of a show-stopping supercar stuffed into a shape that was rivaled only by the models standing next to it. But seeing the new Lamborghini sitting on a show stand is one thing. Hearing the Aventador LP700-4 ripping across the desert is another experience entirely. We know this because we recently spent a day with the new Lamborghini on a film shoot in the California desert. FOLLOW-UP TEST BY EDMUNDS' INSIDE LINE: www.edmunds.com Kicking GM while it's enduring the bitter sting of bankruptcy seems so sophomoric. And so do the massive powerslides we've been doing in the company's 2009 Chevrolet Corvette, so let's begin this review on a positive note by discussing one of the Vette's finer points: Acceleration. First thing you need to know: At wide-open throttle, the LS3 under the Corvette's hood does subtlety like Jessica Simpson does brains. That is to say, not so well — which is awesome, actually. Nailing the gas in this, the tamest of Vettes, is akin to unleashing a thousand pushrod-wielding Hulk Hogans on the car's rear tires. There's a blast of torque followed by a double underhook suplex of forward force. It's as impressive as it is surprising. This is, after all, only a base Corvette. But it's got motor. The LS3 is possibly the best bargain in the world when it comes to eight cylinders arranged in a vee, and it defines the modern Corvette. In our hands it blasts this 3275-pound coupe to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds (4.0 seconds with 1 foot rollout like on a drag strip). But it doesn't stop there. The quarter-mile is incinerated in 12.3 seconds at 116 mph. The trip from 100 to 120 mph takes 4 seconds flat — only 0.3 second slower than the often-drooled-over and far costlier Nissan GT-R. And the fun continues, according to Chevrolet, until 190 mph.

Here's why: This highly modified 2005 Ariel Atom with its supercharged, 375-horsepower, 2.0-liter Honda engine hits 60 mph from a standstill in 2.8 seconds. Two-point-eight seconds! Measure its time to 60 mph with 1 foot of rollout like they do on a drag strip, and the Ariel gets to the mark in a scant 2.6 seconds — less time than we require to decide between paper and plastic. The Princess and the Frog Friday night's (June 26, 2009) preview was called The Inside Line with Ron Clements and John Musker on what makes a great fairytale? It showed more footage of Prince Naveen walking down the street of the French Quarter with the villain "Dr. Facilier". In fact there was more footage on Tiana, Dr. Facilier, Louis (alligator), Lawrence (The Prince's valet), Mama Odie (200-year-old voodoo priestess), and Ray (Cajun firefly). We get to see Tiana as a waitress, and she actually bang's into the bookcase. Dr. Facilier gives Prince Naveen his business card. Then it cuts away and shows him (Dr. Facilier) putting his voodoo stick in Lawrence face: Dr. Facilier - "You do have a soul dont you Lawrence?" Lawrence looked pretty scared at this point—as in crap his pants scared! The part that had me laughing my head off was with Ray the Cajun firefly. Ray looks like he is talking to Naveen and Tiana in their frog form while they seem to be lost in the bayou: Ray "What kind of chucklehead told you to go this a way?" Then you see Louis the alligator charging out of the woods with a big stick in his hands and a goofy look on his face! Louis - "I found a stick!" Ray is startled and gets out of Louis' way. Then it cuts away again showing Ray talking softly to Tiana: Ray - "Never take directions from a gator." Tiana seems to have a bemused look on her face. Enjoy! :) Copyright © Disney

It's so American that it works better with a 3.5-liter V6 engine than it does with its 2.4-liter inline-4, which is kind of a surprise for a car that comes from Honda by way of its premium car division. Yet the addition of the V6 seems to make a huge difference in the TSX, a makeover both mechanical and conceptual for this sport sedan, which has seemed kind of underwhelming since the 2009 Acura TSX with its inline-4 engine first came to us late last year. No Japanese company has worked as hard as Honda to make itself over as an American outfit. Honda has lots of assembly factories in the US just like every other Japanese-label company, but a huge part of the company's engineering brain trust is here as well. You'll find most of it in Ohio, which Soichiro Honda himself picked as the site of his American industrial base because of the profound respect he had for the quality of the American machine tools he bought from the region for his little motorcycle company during the 1950s. So maybe it's no surprise that the 2010 Acura TSX V6 is the most American of the cars from Honda.
