This past Saturday marked the 3 month anniversary of the Occupy movement. "I'm keeping my fingers crossed," said presidential hopeful Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) the night before the Iowa Caucus. "I think we may have some dramatic, good news for tomorrow night." Paul supporters at the Prime N Wine in Mason City, Iowa were in high spirits during his final stop on the Iowa Whistle-Stop Tour, which he embarked upon with his son, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.). Reason.tv was on the scene to gauge the mood and to ask what it is about the Texas congressman that inspires such a devoted following. Answers varied, but common themes were Ron Paul's consistency, his peaceful foreign policy, and his willingness to take serious steps to reduce the deficit. Reason Senior Editor Brian Doherty , whose biography of Paul will be coming out in May, was also there to document the event and provide political commentary. "The interesting thing about Ron Paul fans that I found is that whatever hooks them first," says Doherty, "once they're hooked in, they decide, almost universally, that they like everything about him." Perhaps because they value his logical consistency, most of Paul's supporters told us that they would not be willing to support another Republican candidate should he fail to get the nomination. While many pundits still consider a Paul nomination a long shot, Paul and his supporters feel optimistic about his chances in Iowa. Does it seem strange to you that a room with 300 people in it goes pitch black for over a minute at the exact time that voters are passing their ballots to people collecting the votes in the aisles? Scott County Precinct D63 at the Radisson Hotel in Davenport, Iowa had this occur. Ron Paul got far less votes than I would have expected in a room of this size. The Secretary of the Caucus for the Republican Party and the Precinct Captian for the Ron Paul Campaign says that the lights were off for over a minute, it was pitch black, with no light entering the room through windows or doors, and you could not see a thing. The timing of the blackout was exactly when the ballots were being collected from the seated voters by people in the aisles. The chain of custody for the ballots were compromised and NO ONE was able to observe all the ballots and NO ONE can be sure that the ballots were not tampered with or switched. This video was made by an observer for the Ron Paul Campaign. I can't say that the ballots were tampered with. The media had ignored him and called him a flake but he managed to come in at a respectable 3rd. In fact the top 3 were so close that if the election was tomorrow we could have seen a Ron Paul Victory. Santorum came from no where in the liberal media to garner a good amount of support and likely stole votes from Paul. Our polling suggested a large win for Dr. Paul. However, the votes in the large cities seemed to favor Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum. Michele Bachmann and Rick Perry came in last as we had projected. It appeared as if Perry would be bowing out and heading back to Texas. But the results speak for themselves that Rick Santorum has won the Iowa Caucus with Romney coming in a very close second. The Iowa Caucus is the first vote for the Republicans. New Hampshire is next and we will be polling there also. We already have 35 volunteers ready to go to make sure you get the earliest election coverage possible. With our proprietary method we are able to get a very good estimation of what the election numbers will be. Here in Iowa tonight we were easily able to pick the top 3 Iowa Caucus winners.
