Extended iPad Announcement today Wednesday27th of January Apple officially reveals there new Porduct the iPad "Apple has taken the middle ground, but ground not walked upon before," claimed Steve Jobs as his company launched one of the most anticipated products in years. The rumours about the launch of a tablet-style device from Apple have been circulating the web since 2004 when, according to Gizmodo, Apple filed a patent for a European design trademark on a device that looked like "an iBook screen minus the body of the computer." However, this evening, at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, Steve Jobs was finally able to unveil the iPad -- the announcement for which, he was overhead telling colleagues just days ago, would be "the most important thing I've ever done." With only a short preamble, Jobs stated: "Everyone uses a laptop and/or a smartphone. The question has arisen lately: Is there room for a third category device in the middle?" Apple believed so. But it set itself the task of creating a device that is "better than the laptop and better than the smart phone." A specification was set for a device that will "do browsing, email, photos, video, music, games and e-books," he said, but faster and better than all of the devices out there. On first glance, the iPad -- which should be on sale in the UK by March -- looks like an oversized iPhone, but houses a 9.7-inch LCD display. However, continuing the mantra that thin is best, it has a 0.5-inch <b>...</b>

Aero-TV: WingX Pushes the Limits - Synthetic Vision On The iPad!
WingX Takes The iPad To New Heights of Capability Announced at Oshkosh, aviation synthetic vision is now available on the iPad. Hilton Software boasted of the addition of Synthetic Vision to its flagship WingX Pro7 for iPad product -- an addition that depicts 3D terrain using its high-resolution terrain database, obstacles using a comprehensive obstacle database, and airport runways. Terrain and obstacles that are above or slightly below the airplane's altitude are shaded red and yellow respectively. Also displayed are speed and altitude tapes and a Zero Pitch Line that shows the aircraft's altitude in relation to nearby terrain. Pilots can move to any airport in the country and can look around the airport in all directions and at all altitudes by sliding their finger over the Synthetic Vision view. This enables pilots to visualize a preferred route of arrival or departure for the airport. The Synthetic Vision can be displayed full-screen or simultaneously with other charts such as a VFR sectional or geo-referenced approach chart using WingX Pro7's unique split screen view. Hilton worked closely with Levil Technology to integrate their new Attitude and Heading Reference System (AHRS) unit and enable it to drive the Synthetic Vision display wirelessly. The result is a real-time depiction of the view outside and provides situational awareness for pilots flying at night, in reduced visibility, or even in perfect day conditions. Considering his current medical leave, it was uncertain if he would show up, but he said he couldn't miss something this big. Also in attendance was Jony Ive, lead designer for Apple, sitting in the front row, which sure makes you wonder about those rumors he's leaving from the other day. Steve came back in fighting form as he led the show off with some zinging for Samsung its sales of just 2 million tablets, and the fact Honeycomb only has 100 tablet specific apps compared to the iPad's 65000. Other take-aways from the intro was that Apple sold 15 million iPads between April and Dec. of last year. Doesn't matter what device you're talking about, that's impressive. Not long after that, the iPad 2 logo has hit the screen and it became official that the second iteration of the popular tablet was upon us. Also announced was the the new A5 processor. Here's what we know about the A5 thus far: * 1 GHz * Dual-core * Up to 2X faster CPU * Up to 9X faster graphics * Same low power consumption as A4 As for the actual device, the video cameras (yes, plural) have been confirmed with the front one being shown off. The iPad 2 is also 33% thinner, so there goes using your original cases. Also added this time around is the same gyroscope <b>...</b>
