The Isley Brothers Shout

Like its parallel series R&B Spotlight, Soul Breakout 59 continues its story (started last year) of rounding off the hits and displaying the development of soul music in the US charts from the chosen year. 1959 was a big year for the development of Soul Music with artists such as Sam Cooke and Jackie Wilson doing a great deal to pioneer the sound whilst musicians like Ray Charles took it upon themselves to develop the form merging fifties R&B with gospel-powered vocals. These artists and more are featured on this new compilation which also has authored notes by the respected Record Collector journalist Mike Atherton. The track featured here is the almost beyond famous 'Shout' by the Isley Brothers. "Traces the evoultion of soul through 30 prime cuts" - 4 STARS RECORD COLLECTOR

The Isley Brothers - Hello It's Me

The Isley Brothers are a highly influential, successful and long-running American music group consisting of different line-ups of six brothers, and a brother-in-law, Chris Jasper. The founding members were O'Kelly Isley, Jr., Rudolph Isley, Ronald Isley and Vernon Isley. Starting their careers in the gospel performing circuit in the early 1950s, they eventually crossed over to secular music first finding modest success in doo-wop until the release of their first million-selling hit, "Shout", in 1959. After several flops resulted in them being dropped from their record label, they found success again with sixties hits such as "Twist & Shout", later covered successfully by The Beatles and the Motown hit, "This Old Heart of Mine (Is Weak for You)" in 1962 and 1966 respectively. The group didn't find success again until the end of the decade when their 1969 single, "It's Your Thing", (with Ernie Isley on bass guitar) was released. The song brought them success in the then-fledgling funk genre. After forming their own label, T-Neck Records, the group found modest success with their own recordings between 1969 and 1972 until revamping the group into a sextet in 1973 with the release of their landmark album, 3 + 3 album, this time featuring younger brothers Ernie Isley and Marvin Isley and brother-in-law Chris Jasper. The addition of Ernie, Marvin, and Chris led to their most successful period as they successfully mixed their brand of R&B with rock, soul and funk elements. Other ...

This is another unusual Isley Brothers track as it was only released in the UK, the original recording was made in 1967 but it was not released until October 1973 in the UK TMG 877 for some reason? I've also made this one in 720p HD (as recommended by You Tube) hope you like this one, the Isley Brothers always made great sounds didn't they? Please add your comments, and let me know if it plays well in HD for you? Remember it needs a lot of computer power to play this. JOHN

NEW SONG Lauryn Hill & Ron Isley | Close To You (2010)

This song is owned by UMG and no copyright infringement is intended with this upload. A new song from Ron Isley featuring Lauryn Hill which was meant to appear on Ron Isley's 2010 album, Mr. I, but apparently didn't get clearance from the song owner(s). If you liked listening to this song you may also like listening to Lauryn Hill & Curtis Mayfield - "Here But I'm Gone" in the video response and in my other uploads. "(They Long to Be) Close to You" is a popular song written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David. It was first recorded by Richard Chamberlain and released as a single in 1963 as "They Long to Be Close to You," without parentheses. However, it was the single's flip side, "Blue Guitar," that became a hit. Although Richard Chamberlain recorded the first version, the tune was also recorded as a demo by Dionne Warwick in 1963 and re-recorded with a Burt Bacharach arrangement for her 1964 album Make Way for Dionne Warwick, and was released as the B-side of her 1965 single "Here I Am." Bacharach released his own version in 1968. But the version recorded by The Carpenters is the most well known, which became a big hit in 1970.

The Isley Brothers - Summer Breeze

"Summer Breeze" is a 1972 soft rock, top-10-charting single by Seals and Crofts that has been covered by The Isley Brothers, the Three Tenors and several other artists. Isley Brothers version: The song was covered in a harder rock/soulful style by The Isley Brothers as a single in 1974. Issued also on their 1973 album, 3 + 3, it reached number sixty on the pop singles chart, number ten on the R&B singles chart, and number sixteen on the UK singles chart. The Isleys' version is notable not only for the harmonies of the three vocal Isleys O'Kelly, Rudolph and lead singer Ronald but also for the guitar solo by younger brother Ernie. Ronald Isley, O'Kelly Isley, Jr. & Rudolph Isley: lead and background vocals. Ernie Isley: electric and acoustic guitar & percussion. Marvin Isley: bass guitar and percussion. Chris Jasper: piano, keyboards. George Moreland: drums, percussion.

Marvin Isley RIP- A Tribute Memorial Video "Brother,Brother" Isley Brothers

This is a Genuine G-Shot in memory of the late Marvin Isley of the Isley Brothers. Marvin Isley, 56, the bassist who helped the rhythm 'n' blues vocal trio the Isley Brothers reinvent themselves as a self-contained band and was featured on such hits as "That Lady," "Fight the Power," "Choosey Lover" and "Between the Sheets" died June 6 at a hospice in Chicago from complications of diabetes. Marvin joined the Brothers in 1972 when they were already well established as one of the most influential acts in soul and rock. The original Isley Brothers trio, Ronald, Rudolph and O'Kelly Isley started as a Cincinnati gospel group in 1955, and the influence of the "church wrecking" style could be heard on such early hits as "Shout" (1959) and "Twist and Shout"(1962). They later recorded for Motown, briefly hired a young guitarist Jimi Hendrix (who was going by the stage name Jimmy James) for their road band in 1966 and, following the lead of Curtis Mayfield, started their own record company, T-Neck Records. Anyone who was around in the late 1960s probably heard (or danced to) the Isleys' biggest hit in that era, "It's Your Thing" which was ubiquitous on the radio in 1968. All that happened before younger brothers Marvin and Ernie joined the group. In 1973, the trio added brothers Marvin on bass, Ernie on guitar and brother-in-law, Chris Jasper on organ. As a sextet and a self-contained band, they recorded the album "3+3" which included the hit "That Lady" (which most of us recall as ...

The Isley Brothers - Shout Parts 1 & 2 (as covered by Lulu)

How many hits did the Isleys have? HOW MANY?!? From early classics like this (first released in 1959) and Twist and Shout (not there's originally, but it was the version that inspired The Beatles), to Motown numbers such as Behind a Painted Smile, and on to the 70's killer funk of Its Your Thing, plus many, many more... wow! This is such a great dancefloor track, and my favourite song in two parts (it always catches the crowd out when part one ends, and they expect a different tune to start up).

"Contagious" is a song by The Isley Brothers, featuring Ronald Isley. It was released as a single off of their 2001 album "Eternal". The song was written and produced by R. Kelly, who was also featured on the song, and also featured background vocals by R&B singer Chanté Moore. "Contagious" rose to No' 19 on the pop singles chart and No' 3 on the R&B singles chart and made the Isleys the first band to score a hit in six consecutive decades on Billboard's Hot 100. The breakthrough helped their 2001 album Eternal go double platinum.

12th Performance - Dartmouth Aires - "Shout" by The Isley Brothers - Sing Off - Series 3

This is their usual type of performances which show off their "goofy" side and i think that's their signature schtik with theatrics mixed in which makes them the type of group they're representing for most college guy groups. If they had standout performances every week, like the queen song, they could be a serious contender but i'm not sure if they can win still after this week..considering the audience has already voted a winner after tonight. Ohio/Machine Gun - The Isley Brothers

The Isley Brothers issued "Ohio/Machine Gun" on one of their most underrated and overlooked LPs, Givin' It Back ( T-Neck/Buddah, 1971). Many soul fans don't have much love for this album, considering it to be one of the least impressive and worthwhile LPs in the group's discography. This is due, at least in part, to the fact that the album was the first release by the Isleys which didn't contain any original material. It was seemingly unclear to many of their devoted fans what was so clever about their endeavor to remake songs by the likes of James Taylor, Steven Stills, Neil Young, Eric Burdon, and Bob Dylan. The immense creativity underlying their reconstructions was perhaps lost on many, but in their own way, these recordings were arguably quite brave and revolutionary. "Ohio" written by Neil Young; Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young initially released the track as a single (b/w "Find the Cost Of Freedom") in June of 1970, but it later appeared on the group's first live album, their 4 Way Street LP. "Machine Gun" was written by Jimi Hendrix (who had formerly been The Isleys' guitarist) and appeared on his Band Of Gypsys LP in 1970. *Young penned the lyrics to "Ohio" after the Kent State shootings on May 4, 1970. Despite the fact that many AM stations refused to air the song due to its political slant and implied criticism of Richard Nixon, the tune gained exposure and popularity via underground and college radio. The track climbed to #14 on the Billboard charts, and was ...

Ronald Isley Anita Baker Honored At Soul Train Awards Rihanna, Eminem, Usher BoB Alicia Keys among winners at second annual event Only at the Soul Train Awards could you have a tribute to R&B icons such as Anita Baker and Ronald Isley alongside a segment in which rap legend Doug E. Fresh attempts to teach CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer how to do the Dougie. It was that kind of night at the 2010 Soul Train Awards, as rookies, veterans and legends came together in Atlanta for the second annual event — which was taped November 10 and aired this past Sunday on BET. The show, hosted once again by Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson, featured a night of performances from some of the biggest names in soul and R&B. Host Howard told MTV News that the show is meant to be an extension of the long-running and legendary '70s TV series that brought soul, disco, R&B and rap stars into viewers' living rooms. "It reminds me of the advancement black people have made over the years because 'Soul Train' really was the beginning of that Black Power movement when we could actually see ourselves — and to have an awards show based upon that 'Soul Train' — it's headed somewhere," Howard said. "We have a black president now. The country seems to be more tolerant towards the diversity inside of it so it seems like the train is moving well down the tracks." The awards show marked the 40th anniversary of classic music showcase hosted by Don Cornelius, and celebrated the careers of Baker and Isley, while ...
