Polar Lights 1/1000 ISS Enterprise scale model by TrekWorks
From TrekWorks This segment shows the final paint work and decal's completed. The model is finished off in clear coat and mounted on it's display stand. This has been a very enjoyable model to build and when finished display's very well. The scale is great in that it is big enough to have good detail, yet it does not take up a lot of room. The build took around 5-6 hour's in total with assembly and painting. There are quite a few decals and they are small so it took time to place them all. Beside the problem with the warp nacelle's not fitting the pylon's, the rest of the build was as it should be. The kit, even though it is billed as no glue required will need it in several area's. I glued everything except the saucer to the secondary hull. That fit's very tight and straight by itself. This kit gets a 9 out of 10. Not a ten because of the poor fit of the warp nacelles to the pylons. Otherwise the optional parts, the accuracy, and the overall fit of the parts rate very high. It's also priced very fair. I've also been told that there are aftermarket kits to allow building some of the Franz Joseph Variants such as Scout class or Destroyer's. Lot's of fun on this one. NOTE: NCC-1701 SHIPS FROM F THROUGH J AND FAN FICTION, ETC.- These are always under contention and there is great debate and many camps. I went with what I felt fun that day, and rolled with it. Relax! I went with a nice round figure, 12. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- How many Starships for Star Fleet were named Enterprise? What happened to them? What were their fates? This is my interpretation, and I am just having fun. But I finally got the NCC-1701 and the NCC-1701-A part correct this time. AMT 1/650 Klingon D-7 Battle Cruiser scale model by TrekWorks
From TrekWorks Welcome, Round 2 models Klingon Cruiser Build Finale The model has now been all finished up and is on its display stand. The video shows the completed model and has a slide show which pictures the assembly of the display base. I had planned to use fiber optic's for all of the lighting of this kit. but the supplier was out of the size I needed. So, not wanting to wait, I went ahead and used the Modelers Brand LED tape to light it. I did use a small amount of Fiber Optic to light the forward marker lights. This was a fun build and I appreciated the comments along the way. The paint work ended up being close to the studio model I was going for. I liked the pearl overlay so much that I kept it but used Testors Dull Coat to take down the gloss on most of the model. It turned out well. Still may tweak the forward lighting a bit. TrekWorks rates this kit a 7 out of 10. The Tin Box edition is great if you want it as a collectable. However, the kit is overpriced at about $40 bucks. A standard box version with the exact same contents will be out in December according to Round 2 and around $20 something would help move the rating up to an 8 out of 10. Otherwise, the issues of the the poor fit of some of the parts are the main concerns. If a casual model builder just glues the parts together and paints it there will be some large visible gaps. And as I mentioned in the video, the Impulse deck which has been re molded, is the worst part. It can be brought to a better <b>...</b>
