Jesse Jackson Jr answers questions about 1) whether health care is a commodity (rights) and 2) the tenth amendment. Several commenters were confused about the constitution. The authority for the federal government to legislate health care comes from Article I, Section 8, Clause 1 of the constitution: "The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises, to pay the debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States." en.wikipedia.org The "voting rights act" that Rep. Jackson refers to is not the 15th Amendment of 1870, but the National Voting Rights Act of 1965 that "outlawed discriminatory voting practices that had been responsible for the widespread disenfranchisement of African Americans in the United States." en.wikipedia.org Town hall meeting on HR 3200 Chicago, 8-18-09.

Your House Note July 28, 2011 -- Jesse Jackson Jr.

From where have the democrats compromised in this last minute debt limit debate? Listen to Jesse's eloquent use of his three minutes and you will come out with a vivid picture of the society that most democrats envision (if I may be so bold as to speak for most democrats on this occasion). If our country could reduce our energy bill by 90%, we might be able to achieve everything Jesse talks about; except for maybe the constitutional amendments he proposes. Someone out there; please innovate us an energy revolution. Thank you in advance.

Blagojevich Tapes : Jesse Jackson Jr. is "a really bad guy"

Testimony: Obama Had 4 Senate Successors In Mind. Illegal!!! Jurors in ex-Gov. Rod Blagojevich's corruption trial got a purported look Thursday at a short list of candidates President Obama favored to replace him in the US Senate. Federal prosecutors played a tape that revealed the first official message from the budding Obama administration about who the president supported for the Senate seat. In the call, Blagojevich's chief of staff, John Harris, tells his boss that Rahm Emanuel, Obama's soon-to-be top aide, had called him to give him a list of four people that Obama would find acceptable as his successor in the Senate. They were Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr.; injured Iraq War vet Tammy Duckworth; US Rep. Jan Schakowsky and Illinois State Comptroller Dan Hynes. Harris tells Blagojevich "He doesn't want to say who he doesn't like," adding that if a person Blagojevich was considering was not on Emanuel's list, "he's not high on them." Harris explained that the message from Emanuel was that Illinois Senate President Emil Jones was not a favored candidate for the US Senate spot. Harris also testified that Emanuel told him that no one else in the Obama camp was authorized to talk about the Senate seat. That seemed to be an indication that previous messages from a union official that Jackson Jr. was not one of Obama's preferred candidates were unauthorized. But Blagojevich doesn't appear to believe the list Emanuel provided is a genuine list of Obama's preferences for the ...

Jesse Jackson JR Named As Candidate 5

clotheslinemedia.com In Breaking News today, Federal Investigators in the Rod Blagojevich case have identified IL Congressman Jesse Jackson JR. as Candidate 5. The news comes just one day after US attorney Patrick Fitzgerald revealed a multitude of counts in a 74 page criminal complaint against IL Governor Rod Blagojevich. In the complaint its alleged that the cover wanted candidate #5 now identified as Jesse Jackson to raise the governor between$500K and $1M in exchange for appointment to the US senate. Governor Blagojevich is heard on the federal wire tap making specific reference to conversations between he and a Jackson emissary in which that emissary expressed interests in finding out the specific terms of the pay to play scheme. That emissary has not been named and Jackson JR. Declined to elaborate further, but did release a statement in which he denied any knowledge of the scheme. It is worth noting that the actual conversation between Blagojevich and the unnamed emissary was not recorded and the feds caution that it is still not yet clear whether or not the conversation took place. Also worth noting is that the Governor is heard on the wire tap inquiring about a pay to play oppourtinity involving Billionaire investor Warren Buffet. That scheme was a plot to exploit the investors relationship with president the elect and his access to Buffets vast resources in order to secure the appointment of Obama Aide Valarie Jarrett to the US Senate. Jesse Jackson Jr. is a Joke

Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr.. proved himself unworthy of both a seat in the Senate and of his seat in the House of Representatives. The softball coverage of Rep. Jackson's attempt to purchase President-elect Barack Obama's seat in the Senate, disgraced the "news" media as well as the Jackson clan. It is not up to "Candidate #5" to dismiss his role in the investigation. Only US Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald can make that call, and as of this posting, Fitzgerald has NOT exonerated Jackson, or anyone else implicated in this investigation. As of this moment, the investigation is focusing on Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich & his Chief of Staff, but there's no promise that it will end with those two. But we can say that Jackson's supposed ignorance of what was going on right under his nose, then Jackson doesn't deserve an internship as a Congressional Page, much less an Elected Official.

Rev. Jesse Jackson Honors the Late Civil Rights Stalwarts Fred Shuttlesworth & Derrick Bell

www.DemocracyNow.org - This week, the Civil Rights movement lost two of its torch-bearers. Rev. Fred Shuttlesworth died at the age 89 and Derrick Bell died at the age of 80. Rev. Shuttlesworth led the struggle to end segregation in Birmingham, Alabama. He was the last of the civil rights movement's "Big Three," founding the Southern Christian Leadership Conference along with Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the Rev. Ralph David Abernathy. A legal scholar and civil rights activist, Derrick Bell sought to expose American racism through his books, articles and career sacrifices. As the first tenured black professor at Harvard Law School, Bell gave up his position in protest of the school's allegedly discriminatory hiring practice. For more on the lives and legacies of Fred Shuttlesworth and Derrick Bell, Democracy Now! interviews Rev. Jesse Jackson, president and founder of the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition.
