Re: Enrico Caruso - High C Countdown by jhvorotin

Yes, it IS a fake. And, yes, my singing voice is WAY better :-) I hope I made it clear, it was nearly midnight when I was making it. The original spectrogram can be seen here: picasaweb.google.com Also, it's not focused on the pitch, even though it has been suggested (and it seems to me, too) that it has been manipulated, too. When you look here: picasaweb.google.com you see that the "high C" part is much higher, all of its formants. But I don't think it can be taken as a proof, it would have to be elaborated further, compared to other Caruso recordings etc.

Maurice André plays the Queen of the Night

Maurice André plays the Queen of the Night from Mozart's opera "The Magic Flute". It's in the same key than the original aria for soprano. Very virtuosic and impressive rendition of this piece. The highest notes are actually close to the human voice I find. Enjoy!

This is "Lamento Della Ninfa" from "Madrigali Guerrieri et Amorosi" (Libro Ottavo, 1638) composed by Claudio Monteverdi. The story tells that a nymph laments on her lost love. Three men come and talk to her. (I don't know exactly how the story goes. Check out the introductory videos posted). I also put photos of young Dessay. Enjoy!

Juan Diego Florez, a student of Alfredo Kraus?

This is a tribute to Alfredo Kraus. He had probably the best and most achieved technique ever. I find many similarities with the way Juan Diego Florez sings. I know that he wasn't a student of Alfredo Kraus but both are masters of technique. Here, I compare them singing "Pour me rapprocher de Marie" composed by Donizetti. I like the way they sing the ending of the aria. Besides, their French is excellent.

Here's a collection of songs taken from various albums of Rhapsody. There's a classical feeling about them all. It's also a smooth introduction to Rhapsody for those who are not keen on metal music.
