El líder norcoreano, Kim Jong-il, muere a los 69 años de edad. Su hijo menor, Kim Jong-un, ha sido nombrado como sucesor. Kim murió el pasado sábado 17 a las 08:30 hora local (23.30 GMT del viernes) durante un viaje en tren, según un despacho de la cadena norcoreana recogido por la agencia surcoreana Yonhap. El líder norcoreano sufrió un ataque cardíaco y no pudo ser salvado, a pesar de recibir "todos las medidas posibles de primeros auxilios", destaca la prensa local. "Fue tratado del corazón y de enfermedades cerebrovasculares durante un largo periodo", señalan. El funeral del líder norcoreano será el 28 de diciembre. El político, que ocupaba los cargos de presidente de la Comisión Nacional de Defensa, comandante supremo del Ejército Popular de Corea y secretario general del Partido de los Trabajadores, heredó el poder en julio de 1994, tras el fallecimiento de su padre, el fundador de Corea del Norte, Kim Il-sung. Kim Jong-il, que nació el 16 de febrero de 1942, era conocido en su país como el 'Querido Líder'. Como autor teórico, firmó un buen número de obras en las que desarrolló la teoría 'Juche', una doctrina colectivista y nacionalista en el que se ha basado la política de Corea del Norte.
