Watt and Joule and HorsepowerAs we know, physical quantities of Power and Work are interconnected and are measured in watts and joules. Let us recall the physical meaning of these quantities. What exactly one watt or joule equals to? Watt is a unit of power of the SI system. It was named after its inventor, James Watt, the creator of the steam engine. This quantity is expressed in terms of other SI units. Since power is work per unit of time, watt can be expressed in terms of joules (unit of work) and seconds. Particularly, 1 watt equals 1 joule divided by one second. In its turn, joule can be expressed as the product of a Newton and a meter since it is the work done when moving the point of application of one-Newton force to one meter. Accordingly, watt can be expressed using these units: one watt equals one Newton multiplied by one meter and divided by a second. With regard to electricity, these quantities are defined differently. Joule is the work of a one-ampere electric current, which is performed as it passes through a 1-ohm resistance during one second. In its turn, electrical power is the quantity characterizing the rate of electricity transmission. It is expressed as the product of one volt and one ampere. One volt multiplied by one ampere is equal to one watt, or we can call it the power of a one-ampere current performing work at the voltage of one volt. Joule thief : Depuis le temps qu'on connaissait ces petits montages électriques on avait jamais réeussit a faire un joule thief , on avait plustot jamais essayé : on était persuadé que ca n'allait pas marcher. Enfin on a essayé et on a réeussit du premier coup ! une chance pour une fois... Un joule thief c'est un petit montage (cela signifie "voleur de joules". Joule : unité universelle dénergie, équivalence à l'énergie necessaire à lever un poid de 100 grannes à un mètre. Un watts=une Joule par seconde) électrique qui permet d'allumer une led ou d'autres petits composants électronique 3 volts à basse consommation avec seulement une pile classique de 1.5 ou 1.2 volts si c'est une pile rechargeable. En réalité un joule thief fait allumer une led presque aussi fort de 0.5 à 3.5 volts ! Un joule thief ne créé pas d'énergie si une led consomme 20ma sous 3 volts elle en consommera 60 sous 1 volt (ca va de soi^^).Pourquoi utiliser un joule thief plustot qu'un transformateur ? car un transformateur ne peut tout simplement pas augmenter une tension continue (sauf la première dixièime de seconde). Atrial Fibrillation - Me Being Cardioverted
Getting cardioverted after an episode of Atrial Fibrillation - After having an episode, the doctors gave me a procedure called Cardioversion. It is given by injecting propofol (milk of amnesia), the same drug that was administered to Michael Jackson before his death. While in a sleep state brought on by this drug... the doctors would shock my heart until it would go back into normal sinus rhythm. I posted this video because I thought it might help people who are concerned about Atrial Fibrillation. My first episode occurred when I was 33, in 2003. It happened spontaneously and has altered the way I live my life. The doctors prescribed Sotalol and Coumadin -- one to regulate my heart rhythm, the other to prevent my blood from clotting in case I had another episode. When atrial fibrillation occurs, blood pools in your heart chambers which can cause clotting, which in turn can result in stroke or even death. No matter which drugs the doctors prescribed, it was not successful in keeping my heart out of Atrial Fibrillation. It happened on the average of every three months. The only way my to get my heart back to normal rhythm was to have a cardioversion each time. This procedure is shown in the video above. I had actually enjoyed the experience. It was a short euphoric feeling, then sleep, which seemed to last only seconds. By the time I awoke, 20 to 30 minutes would have gone by. After having cardioversion 7 times, I asked a nurse to video the procedure. I never remembered <b>...</b>

Joule thief : Le joule thief est un montage électrique aux propriétés étonnantes, déjà comme nous l'avons démontré dans notre première vidéo leur étant destinée "joule thief 1" ils ont la particularité de pouvoir faire allumer une led qui a besoin d'environ 3 volts pour s'allumer (2.4v à 3.6v) avec seulement une pile de 1.2 volts (ou 1.5) , d'ailleurs cela marche même à partir de 0.6 volts ! peut on alors conclure que ce montage augmente la tension ? non pas tout à fait car si on mesure la tension qui alimente le led on retrouve bien 1.2 volts ! le mystère persiste, on pense que le joule thief, donne des impulsions de tension plus élevée de faible intensité trop brèves pour être décelées par un voltmètre numérique... ces "pics" de tension plus élevé sont liés à un phénomène d'induction... Ce montage a besoin d'une tore de ferrite pour fonctionner que tout le monde ne possède pas forcément c'est pour cela que nous vous proposons de la remplacer par deux bobines de fil superposées ( +/- 30 spires chacune dans l'idéal, elles n'ont pas besoin d'avoir le même nombre de spires... le montage est tolérant xD ). Grâce à ce montage on peut aussi alimenter d'autres petits appareils ultra basse consommation 3 volts autres que des leds comme des petits réveils digitaux. On peut, et on vient de le remarquer plus récemment, aller plus loin avec ce montage ! en effet on a remarqué que la tension que le joule thief donne à la sortie (ou plutôt la tension qu'il parait donner car rappelez <b>...</b>

Premier jour de beau temps de l'année 2010, Essai de la carabine 1250 Dominator 50 joules 6.35 et Fx Gladitor cal 5.5 mm. Tirs effectués par l'armurerie Auxerre, tir loisirs. Le produit est visible sur notre site internet : www.armurerie-auxerre.com Sur cette vidéo comparative, nous avons testé les deux carabines sur 3 critères : la précision, perforation et puissance. Nous avons remarqué que la précision de la gladiator à longue distance n'a pas dégal, la perforation du calibre 5.5 est supérieur grâce a sa vitesse et son petit gabarit en revanche la puissance darrêt de la dominator est lègèrement supérieur. La précision du calibre 6,35 a 25 mètres est bonne a 65 mètres. Mais le plomb est trop lourd pour avoir une trajectoire satisfaisante a plus de 90 mètres.

NOTE:: the frequency noise is only picked up by the camera. it doesnt actually squeal like that audibly. alot of people have made some cool portable fluoro lights on youtube but none of them were bright enough for me. "boomerman2004" has made a great instructable on how to do this at s821.photobucket.com i basically did the same thing and took cheap camera circuits and gutted them, but used 3.6 cell phone and cordless phone batteries as inputs. one of them is actually one of the battery cells that make up a laptop battery. each put out around 4v at good current. the problem is leaving the lights on for too long will burn out the transformer. i added a 25 ohm rheo on the green box so i can leave it on for however long i want, just at a low brightness. i wasnt satisfied with the light a single AA puts out, and i like the rechargeability of these battery packs. they charge super fast and will last like almost forever in these circuits. i will definitely be using these next time the power goes out. room to room portability is what makes it ideal. u could also create an inverter for a car battery that will run much bigger fluoros during outages. the pope is a faggot and im going to spinkick that fool in his big ass head ay seriously tho if u like the pope u need to sit on a pinecone and twirl true story
South Africa's 'Joule' Electric Car, launched October 2008
Electric cars are surely the way forward and South Africa is taking up the challenge with it's 'Joule' electric vehicle. The car is being built by Optimal Energy, with support from the South African government. The project is headed by leading scientists and engineers, some of whom built SALT - SA's innovative Large Telescope, and before that the incredible Rooivalk attack helicopter. The car has been designed by Keith Helfet, another South African who designed the Jaguar XJ220. Available by end of 2012.

Joule Thief Circuit - Driving CFLs with 1.5v
In the "Big Joule Theif" thread of the Energetic Forum some wizards are producing light from CFLs using only 1.5 volts. There are hand-wound coils, and clever circuits being experimented with. This is all great fun and may lead to a very inexpensive, low power lighting system. Here is my attempt, which utilized many ideas I've seen from others from the Forum. What a thrill to participate in this "shocking" research. I am so amazed that you can light CFLs using a 1.5V battery. It seems impossible ... but resonance is a science we have yet to tap effectively. My contributions to this effort are to try to use off-the-shelf parts -- so that people don't have to wind their own coils -- and to keep part count and complexity low. Those electronically inclined might take a stab at replication. Search for Jeanna's Light too and check that out. We want to start a nice friendly competition to see who can light the lights the brightest with the least power. Hint ... go BIG on inductance!!!
Automatic solar Joule Thief
This is a Joule Thief LED/charger circuit that is being driven automatically by a modified 'solar garden light' circuit. In this video I show energy being gathered by a solar cell and put into a 50 farad 2.3 volt supercapacitor. When the light is removed from the solar cell the Joule Thief circuit automatically turns on a white LED and the red charge indicator LED turns off. While the white light is on, energy recovery is shown happening as energy flows into a second but smaller capacitor raising it to a higher voltage than the first. Fuji Circuit Joule Thief CFL Light
Here is a neat little project that I built using a Fuji disposable camera circuit and 1 AA battery to run a 13 watt CFL. The CFL does not run at full brightness but is about one half brightness. On a AA battery 1.2 volts@ 2800mah the light will run for about 2 hours. I added a small solar panel from an old garden light so I could sit the light in a window during the daytime to let the sun charge up the AA battery. Not a real useful project but its guaranteed to get people talking when they come over to your house. They will never believe that you are running a CFL from one AA battery so you would have to show them. You can build one of these however if you would like me to build one for you please pm me.

Gasoline has 129461090 Joules per gallon; my pickup will use APROXIMATELY one gallon in 4134 seconds (1.15 hours) ON A LEVEL SURFACE GOING 55 MPH. In the real world, my pickup must climb hills and it does that very poorly: it consumes more than 1 gallon per hour, and I drive faster than 55 miles-per-hour. Hydrogen cannot cheaply meet the demand when it is produce via photovoltaic panels and electrolysis.

Super Joule Thief - RLC resonant circuit.
I added an extra transistor and a capacitor to the basic Joule thief and made an RLC resonant circuit. No toroid is necessary. I wound one turn of insulated wire, (yes, one turn) and the led lights up. The oscillations are so powerful it hums. Just like when the flash is charging in a disposable camera.

Earth Battery-Joule Thief Runs 48 Inch Tube (40 watts)
This is my earth battery running a 48" (40 watt) florescent tube. It is not at full brightness but it is lit and lit pretty well. It is much brighter than it appears on the camera. i am using my earth battery and running the output into two 2.3, 10 Farad supercaps in parallel with my modified Fuji joule thief circuit. The earth battery does not put out enough mA's to run the Fuji circuit by itself. The supercaps allow it to power the Fuji joule thief. When I get a much larger cap, I believe I can run this as long as I want to. I can charge the supercap with the earth battery by day, and run off it and the earth battery at night. How to make a joule thief high voltage fly back transformer driver
I have been experimenting with joule thief's and decided to put the winding around a fly back transformer core. And it works! Using only one transistor you can get super high voltage. The transistor that works the best is a 2N3055 it will put out 1 1/4 inch arcs. In the video I am using two 2SC5047. Because I burned out my 2N3055 transistor. For some reason the 2S part is not stamped on it. They are hooked in parallel to get double the power. But is not really necessary because they can handle 25 amps each.

This is my new and improved earth battery running 4 ultra bright 10mm 28000 MCD LEDs. I am using a standard Joule Thief circuit wound (bifilar) on a ferrite toroid this time. An N3904 transistor, 1k resistor and a 2.3 volt, 10 Farad super capacitor.
