Barem - Blue EP MINUS109 WAV, MP3, 12" Argentina's Barem issues a summer storm warning with Blue, his first EP since 2008's Kolimar and a preview of what's forthcoming on his debut LP for release on Minus, After The Storm, which follows in June. With the album running order based around the full sentence There Is Nothing Better Than A Clear Blue Sky After The Storm, the lead track of this new EP Blue - appearing here as an alternate vocal version - is positioned at around the eye of the storm, conjuring images of rain-soaked, squall-battered beaches with clouds breaking just enough to reveal the daylight that's promised After The Storm. Also included on the EP is Mathias Kaden's interpretation of the lead track, with Kaden taking the skittering drumfills of the original and bringing the percussion to the fore, creating a new atmosphere that nods to Barem's Argentinian roots with a latin-flavoured groove. Meanwhile, French producer D'Julz brings the trippy house sensibility that's led to releases on Dessous, Circus Company and Ovum to the LP's second track Is. Rounding out the release is a new edit of the LP track Clear, remodeled here as a woozy DJ tool. With After The Storm on the horizon, Barem will also return to live performance in 2011, with a full album world tour set for announcement soon, comprising of an entirely new live set with visuals put together by Barem in collaboration with visual artists from his Buenos Aires hometown. Full information will be announced ...
