Russian FMX rider Alexey Kolesnikov and Dakar 2010 winner, pilot of KAMAZ-master team Vladimir Chagin accomplished a unique joint project -- 1st ever jump of a motorcyclist over a truck. The jump was taken at Kolesniokov`s home training base in Kolomna with 2 perpendicular ramps for a cross jump of the both vehicles. It took 10 days to get prepared to the project. The ramp for the 8,5 tons KAMAZ truck was formed out of 500 tons of dirt. The height of the ramp was 2.5 meters, the gap from the separation point to the landing - 12 meters, which corresponds to a height of four-store house, and KAMAZ speed right before the jump was 60 km/hour. Kamaz launches production in India Published: 25 February, 2010, 15:01 Edited: 26 February, 2010, 12:00 Russia Today Kamaz has announced that it has commenced vehicle production at the Hosur plant of its joint venture with India's Tetra Vectra. The Russian truckmaker is hoping to find a niche in its $5 billion truck market, that is dominated by local manufacturers, with several international players recently joining the fray. Ravi Rishi, Chairman at Vectra Group, is upbeat saying the joint venture company is competitive enough to enter the new mass market. "The foreign makers have taken on the top end of the market, which is a very small market, not more than 2 to 3 thousand trucks, and that's where they are pitching their products, like Mercedes Tatra, Volvo. We are coming into the mass market and we feel that is a fast growing market, and we have pitched our product in a way -- we are a 8 by 4 -- that means we have more capacity to carry on road than the existing Indian players." Sergei Kogogin, Kamaz General Director, was optimistic about the success of the new plant for Kamaz. El equipo de camiones rusos decacampeón del Rally Dakar, Kamaz Master, ve con entusiasmo la nueva edición latina de la competición que arrancó junto con el 2012. Casi medio millar de vehículos, entre cuadriciclos, motos, automóviles y camiones, iniciaron la competición en Mar del Plata (Argentina) para llegar dentro de dos semanas a Lima, capital del Perú que se incorporó a la ruta este año. El camión es uno de los vehículos más difíciles de manejar en esos terrenos tan variados del rally: desiertos, dunas y montañas. Para equipo Kamaz, "el nuevo territorio que se ha abierto en la competición en Perú será un nuevo desafío", según las palabras de su director técnico, Semión Yakubov. Pero Perú no es la única novedad para los rusos. Tras la retirada del siete veces campeón, Vladímir Chaguin, su rol lo asume el nuevo líder del equipo, Eduard Nikoláyev. "Esperemos que este Dakar les pueda dar mayor experiencia a los nuevos pilotos y al equipo nuevas figuras y nuevos nombres", dijo Yakubov.
