HRANA publishes more documents and a new video of a tortured prisoner at Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj. (Includes link to video - please note this video is difficult to watch) Friday 7th Khordad (May 28th, 2010) HRANA - The Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj, one of the most dangerous and notorious prisons in Iran has turned into a place of exile for more than 70 political prisoners. Under the blind eye of the prison authorities, Rajai Shahr has been a place of torture, rape, murder and many other human rights violations. HRANA has published yet another video in a series of reports aimed at revealing the human rights violations by prison authorities at this notorious prison. This particular video was taken at the Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj and transferred outside or the prison by means that cannot be disclosed due to security reasons. It brings to light the torture and beatings of several prisoners at the hands of prison authorities - behavior that is against all legal and humanitarian principles. Yesterday, HRANA posted a video about a prisoner who was martyred as a result of torture and rape in this prison. These documents illustrate the dire situation facing prisoners at Rajai Shahr and the lack of responsibility and action taken by prison officials and the judiciary to confront these atrocities. Anand Karaj (Punjabi: ਅਨੰਦ ਕਾਰਜ, anand kāraj) is the Sikh marriage ceremony, meaning "Blissful Union" or "Joyful Union", that was introduced by Guru Amar Das. The four Lavan (marriage hymns which take place during the marriage ceremony) were composed by his successor, Guru Ram Das. The history of Anand marriage ceremony is traced back to the time of Guru Amar Das (1479--1574), who composed the long 40 stanza hymn Anandu, in the Ramkali measure, suitable to be sung or recited on all occasions of religious import. His successor, Guru Ram Das, composed a four stanza hymn, Lavan, which is recited and sung to solemnize nuptials Guru Amar Das (Gurmukhi: ਗੁਰੂ ਅਮਰ ਦਾਸ) (5 May 1479 -- 1 September 1574) was the third of the Ten Gurus of Sikhism and was given the title of Sikh Guru on 26 March 1552. Guru Amar Das Ji became Sikh Guru at the age of 73 following in the footsteps of his teacher Sri Guru Angad Dev Sahib Ji, who died on 29 March 1552 at age 48. Guru Amar Das ji established his headquarters in the town of Goindwal Sahib, which was established by Sri Guru Angad Dev Sahib Ji. Guru Amar Das Ji strongly discouraged the caste system. He raised the status of women by prohibiting the practice of Sati (a wife's suicide on her husband's funeral pyre) and "Parrda" (veil covering the face). Kabīr (also Kabīra) (Hindi: कबीर, Punjabi: ਕਬੀਰ, Urdu: کبير) (1440—1518) was a mystic poet and saint of India, whose writings have greatly influenced the Bhakti movement. Kabir was born in 1398, lived as a weaver and died in 1518. According to some he was initiated by Ramanand Swami, a famous Hindu Guru and community leader at that time. Using very poignant language, Kabir criticized caste ideology and declared the equality of all human beings.
