Mehbooba Mufti on Kashmir problems

The blame game among the political parties over the prevailing situation has already begun in the valley. Earlier it was separatist leader Moulvi Abbas Ansari who blamed the PDP for funding and instigating the Kashmiri youth. That view was later supported by the state's Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. However, the PDP president Mehbooba Mufti has defended herself in an interview with our correspondent Idrees Lone.

kashmiri pandit story

This film even if considered partially true raises serious questions about the way Indian state has been functioning. How Kashmiri Pandits were terrerised to leave their own house in there own country. How manay many temples were broken & nobody including media raised the issue. It is extremely shameful for us because we have elected such people to power time & again. We have not been vigil enough that how islamic hardliners have played with laks of our brothers till now. What we see in the government even today is nothing but appeasement. Human rights activist never speak about Kashmiri Pandit, this can't be mere coincidence, there has to be something more in it.

Kashmir Needs Psychological Counsellors

Research done by people of IIT Kharagpur has shown that the main problem in Kashmir from the Administration's side is the human rights violations by the security forces. Astonishingly, their research also shows that the Kashmir problem may be predominantly a medical problem rather than a political or economic one. According to their research, it seems that the security personnel in Kashmir are affected by a psychological syndrome which makes them behave cruelly. For more information please see the video and for still further information please see the Discussions tab on www.facebook.com This video has been prepared by Ritesh Singh from Department of Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Kharagpur and the founder of a non-profit organization named Mission Kashmir which aims to employ the best minds of the country to solve the biggest problems of Kashmir. The Discussions tab on www.facebook.com/missionkashmir talks about the mission's research on the problems of Kashmir and their solutions. Please join hands to change the world.

The Heart of Kashmir, by Kash Gabriele Torsello

Millions of words have been written about the Kashmir dispute between India and Pakistan in which thousands of people have lost their lives. Now comes a book with a hundred or so pictures that tells a story of its own. [...] Tony Allison, Asia Times Official Book Launch at The House of Commons and at The House of Lords, Westminster, London January 2003. Finalist at The British Book Design and Production Award 2003. Exhibition & Book Presentation at the European Parliament, Brussels 25th -- 28th April 2005. REVIEWS: "...I hope it will show people how beautiful Kashmir is, and how important it is to end the terrible violence and work for the only thing that matters: peace with justice." John Simpson CBE, BBC World "...The photographs are of an exceptional quality and the book will make an important contribution to the collections of the UNOG Library by illustrating the situation in Kashmir...." UNITED NATION OFFICE AT GENEVA LIBRARY "The Heart of Kashmir is a wonderful work, depicting a region disrupted by violence with its people living under the shadow of constant humiliation and suffering. It provides a perceptive insight into Kashmiri daily life." James Elles MEP, founder of the All Party Group on Kashmir in the European Parliament "...This extraordinary, rare collection of images focuses on the Indian side of the border -- but it is the story of the people who live there that matters." Normalcy Gradually Returning to Indian Kashmir

The violence and curfew in India's Kashmir Valley has put life at a standstill for many local residents over the past two months. But now locals are starting to resume their daily lives. Life in the Kashmir Valley is slowly returning to normal after more than two months of curfews, shutdowns and violence. On Tuesday, locals came out of their houses and visited reopening markets. [Javed Ahmed, Shopkeeper]: "The market is flooded since morning and it's nice to see the shops opened. People need to purchase necessary commodities." But some locals say this relief won't last long. [Shafeeq Dar, Local]: "We are feeling good but you can see the situation here. The pain is not over yet ... it will take some time, but since the market has opened, you can see many people have come out. But unless and until there is a solution to the Kashmir problem we will see similar circumstances here." The Kashmir Valley witnessed a surge of violence that led authorities to impose frequent curfews in several parts of the state.

Hizb-ul-Mujahideen is an indigenous, homegrown organization which came into existence in 1989 as an armed resistance movement to remain at the back of the political movement for the attainment of right of self-determination promised to the people of Jammu and Kashmir by the international community, India and Pakistan in un resolutions. Although Hizb is an organization of freedom fighters yet our primary aim is to create an environment of peace. we sincerely believe that no peace in South Asia is possible without addressing the root cause of tension, ie long lingering catastrophic Kashmir imbroglio. Hizb-ul-Mujahideen is the largest of freedom fighters, its universality has even been acknowledged by the Indian authorities. The rest of the world also accepts it as the genuine voice of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Hizb-ul-Mujahideen has reiterated it time and again that Kashmir dispute is neither a border dispute nor a territorial problem.
