HAPPY EARLY HALLOWEEN! This is my arrangement of Portal's ending song "Still Alive". I am a huge Portal fan, and I've been eagerly waiting for the chance to record this properly. I have never gotten to play with the sound effects on Vegas before because of the type of music I usually record, so this time I went crazy with a flanger effect which made me sound really robotic. x3 (A one-time occasion, I assure you) As per tradition, I used my electric piano for the meat of this seasonal upload, plus my violin for pizzicato. This is the end result! It was originally said that it would become the official theme song of Dragon Nest SEA, and that it would be used in a promotional trailer. After the company discussed it though, they decided to use it as village background music instead. During the game's Open Beta it was used as Calderock Village's background music. (and a lot of players fell in love with it which was great! @.@) Sadly though, a month ago, the song was completely removed from the game. The moderators said it was due to a mysterious bug. It must be a very hard to fix bug as several patches have not put the song back in. Hopefully soon they will be able to fix the issue soon... I would be so sad if the song is never used again. Here is my cover of World of Warcraft's 'Temple of the Moon' which I think is one of the most soothing and soporific tracks in the game. Nomitori no Uta (also known as 'Drinking Song') is a beautiful but totally unappreciated little song composed by Yoko Kanno for the Escaflowne movie. I have always wanted to do a cover of it! I composed a little chorus section to give it a bit more melodic structure, and created the best arrangement I could to showcase its primal beauty. It is sung by a group of children in the original track and it is SO cute! :3 I could not find much information on the song, let alone lyrics or a translation....I did my best to imitate what I heard of the lyrics in the original track, but I have no idea if it's entirely correct or even what the lyrics mean. I was only 13 years old when I recorded this violin solo in 1997! The piano part was played by my mother, Melinda Covington (coffeeforcreature) and the sound engineer recording me was Leonard Gibbs. It was recorded at Creative Spark in Mount Pleasant, SC on their old base-boomy piano xD In 1997 we were trying to record a little classical CD of my violin playing, but it fell through due to lack of funds.
