One of the KCS crewmembers inspects the train as it goes on by, then he boards his train and waits, (not very long) for a green signal to continue on northbound. Tuesday July 27, 2010 While I was at home watching The Weather Channel, I get a call from Mr. T he asked me did I want to go on a road trip? I said " yes sir, and also may I bring my cousin along too?" He said " thats fine too, I'll be there in while to pick yawl up." So when I got off the phone I went to my room to charge my batteries and my camera. About 40-45minutes later I get a call from Mr. T saying that he's Green Mount Road and will be there shortly. So I went back to my room to take the batteries out of the charger and put them in my scanner. I grabbed my other camera stuff too. About a couple minutes later he was at my house, well my dad said he pulled up into the drive way. So my cousin and I went outside to get in the truck. Plugged in all the railroad frequencies that we were going to railfan at. As were driving west on interstate 70 we went to Greenville, IL cause Mr. T wanted to show me this engine at this factory, but unfortionately we could drive into the factory because they had the road blocked by a gate. We did see two old cabooses one was an IC. After looking around for the engine we went on highway 40 east which follows the CSX St. Louis Sub. So at the town at Mulberry Grove we get back on I-70 continuing east. While were on I-70 my scanner picks up talking and it was for the St. Louis Sub, the dispatcher was talking about CSX Q106-27 the Schiender Train. We didnt know where the train was but we were probaly ahead of it anyway. In the town of <b>...</b>

Please watch at the highest resolution. I caught these trains on March 15th 2011 in downtown Beaumont, TX. I saw the Ferromex waiting to go so I waited around for a while but just as I was about to give up I heard a KCS train coming into Beaumont from the bridge so I cut down Neches St. and just as I was pulling up to the railroad crossing the Ferromex train started going as well. After recieving the Heads Up on this CSX Q619-06 with 3 KCS units and 1 TFM unit leading (w/ the Southern Belle LEADING!) I was determined to catch this train especially since it was only an hour away from home in Augusta. So after leaving work early I was fortunate enough to make it to Salak (Greenwood), South Carolina, located South of CSX's Maxwell Yard, to find Q619-06 waiting at the signals to meet a Q614-06. After Q614-06 enters the yard and clears the Main, Q619-06 starts its journey with a fresh crew down the Abbeville Subdivision. Next, we catch CSX Q619-06 highballing into Abbeville, South Carolina. Last, Q619-06 is seen coasting downhill at the South End of Calhoun Falls Siding. My main focus had been to catch KCS action on the KCS Shreveport-Dallas line, and I had hoped I would at a minimum get either some Southern Belle 'ACes or at least some KCS power with good-sounding Nathan Airchime K5LA horns, since KCS is generally pretty reliable to that end. Instead of getting what I wanted, KCS and UP swapped roles on me, and there were no Southern Belle 'ACes or K5LA horns to satisfy this railfan's desires. On the morning of June 18 I headed over to Jefferson, TX, where an Advance Approach indication on the UP Little Rock Sub at the Hwy 49 crossing immediately sent me scrambling over to Cass St, where I caught two KCS SD70Macs - with a nauseating UP-style horn on the lead engine - pulling an empty string of gondolas northward on the Little Rock Sub. Later in the morning I had switched over to the KCS Greenville Sub, hoping for better luck, when UP shows its big ugly face with an empty coal drag on the KCS line! There was a little bit of silver lining though with a patched-SP AC4400CW in good condition bringing up the rear. Then on the 20th, I tried my luck again on the Greenville Sub, this time in Avinger, and waited in 100 degree heat and direct sun for nearly three hours - only to once AGAIN see a solid UP lashup powering an empty coal drag! I say here until my Jackson, Mississippi KCS train was being built up. A car knocker drove by me and brought my a 12-pack of ice cold bottled waters as well as taking my cell phone to the yard office to have it fully charged for me. It only took my five hours to make it from Shreveport, Louisiana to Jackson, Mississippi on a hot-shot junker via Monro, Louisiana and Vicksburg, Mississippi! (This very route was once ran by "Mid-South" Railroad before KCS bought it out in the 1990's and upgraded the crappy lines). Once in Jackson, I took the "CN" south as far as Fluker, Louisiana where I bailed off and called my brother to come fetch me and bring me to his house only 30 miles from Fluker. This "CN" line from Chicago to NOLA was once owned and ran by "IC&G" Railroad....the line I eventually caught in Jackson, that is.
