Scott Kettner and Carlinhos Pandeiro de Ouro duel it out on pandeiros at California Brazil Camp. Carlinhos took up pandeiro at the age of 7 when he began tapping his mother's cake pan. His association with the famed Mangueira Samba School led to notoriety as a child prodigy. As a 14-year old in 1957, he appeared in the Academy Award-winning film Black Orpheus (Orfeu Negro), playing pandeiro and dancing across the screen. Working in Brazilian national radio led to work with singers Emelinha Borba and Marlena and the composer Ataulfo Alves. In 1966, he won a national pandeiro contest with innovative rhythms and pandeiro juggling technique. This established his name, "Carlinhos Pandeiro de Ouro"

Here is a quick demo of the Xaviere XV-870 played through a Hughes and Kettner Edition Blue 15R. The amp was miked using a Nady SPC-25 condenser microphone into an ART Tube MP USB mic preamp connected via USB. The demo was recorded in Garage Band and finished with pictures, titles, and transitions in iMovie. The amp settings for the clean section were: Volume = 7 Bass = +3 Mids = +3 Treble = +4 Master = 1.5 Reverb = 3 The amp settings for the dirty section were: Gain = 1 Lead Master = 3.5 The rest of the settings are the same as clean. The Xaviere XV-870 has been upgraded with a Wilkinson WVC-SB tremolo, Wilkinson EZ Lock tuners, CTS 250K pots (with a Blender pot), a CRL 5-way, and a .022 Orange Drop cap. The rest of the guitar is stock with Ernie Ball 10's.

Running an esp eclipse 2 AHB through channel 3. Stock pickups. Amp gain is about 75% and I boosted the input with a H&K Tubefactor on factor 1. Delay and verb is a TC G-Major running in parallel in the loop using a Suhr Minimix 1...the onboard amp effects were NOT used on this vid.

This is a demo of the Hughes & Kettner Tube 50 Combo guitar amplifier. It has two channels for clean and lead sounds (1/2) as well as two amp modes (A/B). Amp mode B adds gain/distortion to the selected channel. The video shows all four combinations of channels and amp modes. The fotos and movies used for this video were taken with a FujiFilm FinePix F30 digital camera. Titles were created with the GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program). I thought I'd record a demo with the Duotone when I have it loaded with EL84's (instead of EL34's) and yellow jackets. Here is the gear I used. Gibson SG Standard : H&K Duotone : Shure SM57 (speaker) & AKG Perception 100 (room) : M-Audio FastTrack : Sony Acid Pro The speaker mic (SM57) is panned to the left and the room mic (Perception 100) is panned to the right. I added no EQs or effects in Acid Pro (unlike my previous demo where I added a post EQ). I tried to play in an array of styles to showcase all the abilities of the amp.

Ernie Ball Music Man JPXI - Hughes & Kettner TriAmp MKI with EL34s tubes. POD HD for delay and those stupid effects. :) I got this amp because I love the B channel on the third amp. Also I'm always GASing for a modded Marshall, Diezel, Mesa etc. so I hope this will be a GAS killer for now. The tonality is very close to a Diezel if you ask me. These are amazing amps and go for under a grand used although the MKII costs $3000-$4000 and it's basically the exactly same amp.

I have been using a Tubeman for Touring and Studio recordings for over 5 years now and I'm definately changing to one of these guys!! I used an Ibanez Darkstone (No mods) Tubemeister 18 Head on Silent Mode through RedBox out. M-Audio Firewire Sound Card Layoured the guitars to have a left and right guitar (I Physically played the guitars twice) 1 Lead Channel. Extra instruments are: Drumkit (Programmed) and Cort 4 String Bass. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ONE OF THESE GUYS!!

Comparison of 2 stereo microphones: Audio Technica AT822 and a Sony ECM-MS907. The AT822 has 2 settings: A standard flat response setting and then a bass rolloff setting. the first clip is the flat and the second is the bass rolloff. third section is the sony. as you will hear the at822 is a pretty big improvement over the sony. much more high end comes through and the tone has a lot more air and openness. I used a hughes and kettner switchblade 100 combo on channel 3 with heavy gain and boosted the input with a hughes & kettner Tubefactor on factor 1. I intentionally set the amps treble high to see how it would pickup on the mics. Guitar was my trusty washburn blonde idol. Delay and reverb is on the tc g major which i'm running in parallel in a RG-16 switching system using a suhr minimix 1. cab was miked 27" away and both mics were 14" up from the floor pointing directly in the middle of the cab. volume was about the level of a raised voice. only post work i did was run the .wav file thru a waves ultramaximizer to bring up the levels and even them out and then rip to an mp3.
