The dynamism of Kenya's athletics scene was witnessed at the Nyayo national stadium as the favorites played second fiddle in the 1500m and 5000m events. Isaiah Kiplagat beat a field of experienced athletes to win the men's 5000m while Olympic champions' Asbel Kiprop and Nancy Jebet Langat lost the 1500m national titles.

The closing stages of a quite brilliant run by Kenyan Florence Kiplagat,who won in a time of 2.19.44.In second place was Irina Mikitenko and third,on the come back trail was marathon world record holder Paula Radcliffe.There is a short interview with Radcliffe after the race.

As the camp enters its second week, Rotterdam marathon champion Philes Ongori has been ruled out with an injury and her place taken up by commonwealth champion Irene Jerotich. In the walk racing team, Emily Ngii and Josephat Sirma have been relegated to the all Africa games squad. Today we continue featuring the team at camp with focus on Isaiah Kiplagat Koech a.ka chairman who on February 11th this year ran his first senior race at the age of 17 years setting world leading time of 12 minutes 53.29 seconds over the 5000m indoors.

Most distinct differences between the two elite runners is that Kiplagat is powering herself forward by making big strides (running WITH) the legs). Dibaba stays more compact and seems to run "on" the legs in stead of "with" them. She's able to land lands closer under the body, her cadence is higher and her groundcontact times are shorter. Nevertheless both athletes are worldclass runners. Unfortunately Kiplagat is injured pretty often an was hardly able to run since 2009 :-(.
