League Against Cruel Sports - Game (1988, UK)

Relatively tame 18-rated cinema ad for LACS' anti-fox hunting campaign, banned from television and given a severely restricted cinema release. Produced by DDB Needham. NOTE : I am not affiliated with LACS nor any other animal welfare charity, not do I support them. I only uploaded this video for the cinematography within it. Any smug comments on ripping apart animal corpses should be kept within one's egocentric mind.

Anti-hunting 'investigators' caught on hidden camera

This is the moment two employees of the League Against Cruel Sports, a charity which campaigns against hunting, shooting and other activities, were caught trespassing in a wood in the South of England while trying to spy on someone. The bungling pair were caught on their own covert surveillance equipment that had been discovered and repositioned to film them trying to retrieve their cameras. Furthest from the camera is LACS 'investigator' Ed Shephard. Shephard is keen on placing surveillance equipment in woods and hiding in bushes to film people. Closest to the camera is LACS head of operations Paul Tillsley. Tillsley runs the controversial Baronsdown 'sanctuary' in Somerset where hundreds of deer have died from disease and starvation.

Brian May on badger cull: talkSPORT with George Galloway 22 July 2011

Brian May was a guest of George Galloway on talkSPORT, discussing the current urgent situation of the UK government being 'strongly minded' to slaughter our protected native badgers - a futile cull attempting to eradicate bTB. Contrary to DEFRA Minister, Caroline Spelman's claims, this goes against all the science. Brian urges listeners to sign the new petition put up by the League Against Cruel Sports (LACS), to be found at tinyurl.com

Fox Tour Day 11 - St Ives

In the run up to the 2010 UK General Election, the League Against Cruel Sports sent a six foot fox on tour around constituencies where hunting is a key issue. We did this to highlight to the public that some politicians want to bring back hunting with dogs. They want to bring back stag hunting, hare hunting, hare coursing and fox hunting. They want to do this despite the fact that over three quarters of the public don't want to see the clock turned back to cruelty. Further candidate information can be found on the Keep Cruelty History website at www.keepcrueltyhistory.com and on the League Against Cruel Sports' main website at www.league.org.uk.
Three main reasons for shooting an animal, it's edible, a pest, or a threat to humans or livestock.

Mike Yardley defends safari shooting against strong opposition. His opponent in this debate was, rather oddly, switched at the last minute from a representative of the League Against Cruel Sports to a trustee of a group called 'Lion Aid' based in Kent. Mike has issued an invitation to the League to debate the same issues on another occasion. Please Note: This is not about condoning illegal hunting or poaching of game big or small in any way shape or form. Gamekeeping is conservation of species, no matter where in the world it may be. "If it were not for modern hunting, many African species would not exist. Many African communities would be worse off. Tourism has a far more detrimental effect on habitat. Moreover, in the context of most developed countries, species like deer must be controlled as they'll overpopulate and die of disease or starvation. There are too many people, too much agriculture, too much urbanisation. There is no easy answer to this problem." Hunt photos used with permission by Michael Yardley. We're out in southern England with legendary foxshooter and falconer Roy Lupton on a red-letter night. And Lee Maycock of the Game to Eat initiative is teaching the chefs of tomorrow at Hertford Regional College about cooking game meat. Kommando -- Animal Cruelty PR Stunt, Ban Snares (Advocates for Animals)

www.kommando.co.uk Experiential and guerrilla marketing agency Kommando carry out guerrilla marketing campaign on behalf of Advocates for Animals and the League Against Cruel Sports, marking the anniversary of the decision taken not to make snaring illegal by MSPS with a shock ambush stunt outside the Scottish Parliament at Holyrood. Kommando staged the highly provocative press stunt outside the Scottish Parliament before taking to the streets of Edinburgh and raising awareness of the unnecessary torture amongst the general public. Snares are vicious and uncontrolled methods of legal torture with many family pets falling victim to snaring as well as recognised wild life. Ross Minett, Campaigns Director for Advocates for Animals said "We were delighted with the range of creative ideas that Kommando came up with for a media stunt. The event on the day went very smoothly to plan and produced the professional result we were wanting. The stunt helped us to generate extensive local and national media coverage for our campaign to ban snares in Scotland."
