Help "The Lion Man" Craig Busch return to Zion Wildlife Gardens
Hi all of you who have watched The Lion Man on TV! It is repeated regularly on Sky, but for those who havent seen it, it is about an amazing guy called, Craig Busch. All by himself through years of devotion he has established a park in New Zealand called Zion Wildlife Gardens. It is a sanctuary for big cats where Craig and his staff worked hands-on building bonds with these gorgeous animals and creating an existence that they otherwise would not have. To date the park houses more than 40 beautiful big cats, safe from hunters. His sanctuary is home to Zion, the magnificant lion who was famously chosen as the face for Aslan in the recent Narnia & Prince Caspian films. Craigs Mother Patricia came to the park in 2006 to financially assist him following a period of personal difficulty. However now she has overstepped her authority and in November 2008 she fired her own son from the business he has set up, and isolated him from his big cats and the marvellous work he has been doing. It is a terrible thing she has done to her son and just as bad, the big cats are really missing their Dad!! Craig The Lion Man himself has said: I believe my cats miss me as much as I miss them. I do get to see them but not very often and I am not able to go in with them. Some of them have been affected emotionally but the most impact has been on Gandor, Shikira, Zion and Shia. The band is made up of Marcus Mumford (vocals, guitar, drums, mandolin), Ben Lovett (vocals, keyboards, accordion), "Country" Winston Marshall (vocals, banjo, dobro), and Ted Dwane (vocals, string bass). Lion Man - Craig Busch speaks out.
The Lion Man, Craig Busch, has questioned safety measures at the wildlife park where a game keeper was mauled to death by a tiger this week. Dalu Mncube was killed after being attacked by a 260kg white male tiger called Abu on Wednesday. Mr Busch, who is currently involved in a hearing before the Employment Relations Authority over his dismissal from the Zion Wildlife Gardens, gave a statement to media this afternoon. Mr Busch said Mr Mncube was the most experienced employee at the park to be dealing with the male tigers while he himself was not there. "I think there needs to be more experience," Mr Busch said. In a halting and emotional voice Mr Busch said he wanted to say goodbye to his friends Dalu and Abu and was sad to see them die the way they did. "I am deeply concerned about the future of the park, safety issues, the way it is being managed and the well-being of these animals," Mr Busch said. He said his protocol with the tigers was that no one was to go inside the enclosure without him. "Even at times I didn't feel like going in there, I'd have to lock them up to go and clean out," Mr Busch said. He said when he was at the park there were "no behavioural issues" with the tiger. "My issues are, number one - is safety at this park, also the management and the rising debt that has tripled in the last few years and also, the well-being of these animals, which is a big one." Mumford and Sons play live at Rough Trade East, London E1 on 4 November 2008, to celebrate the release of their second EP. The songs included here are Little Lion Man and Roll Away Your Stone. Little Lion Man originally appeared on the limited edition Chess Club EP, Love Your Ground. Roll Away Your Stone originally appeared on the limited edition Chess Club EP, Lend Me Your Eyes. Newly recorded versions of both songs will be included on Mumford and Sons' debut album, Sigh No More, released on 5 October 2009 on Gentlemen of the Road/Island Records. Little Lion Man will be released as a single on 28 September 2009. The official video can be seen on the band's MySpace now. Update: 19 months ago I saw this amazing band for the first time (at this gig); playing to a couple of hundred people in a record store in East London. For months afterwards I was banging on about them to anyone that would listen, saying "These guys are going to be big!" "Yeah right", they said, "Sounds like an antique dealers or something". Well people, last weekend the 'antique dealers' packed 18000 people into the John Peel Stage tent at Glastonbury. 18000 people that knew every word of almost every song. The four lads who make up power-pop sensation, The Theory Of Six Degrees, have an average age of 13. That's thirteen, as in 16 minus 3. As USPs go, that one jumps out of the page, doesn't it? It's also likely to make grown men weep. But then you hear the little feckers play and suddenly all that's left swishing round your bonce is a sense of admiration and no little envy. When most of us were 13, we'd just about perfected the art of burping at will. The Theory Of Six Degrees have been finalists in Rock School (Xfm's battle of the bands competition). They came second in Live and Unsigned and won Yamaha's Grand For A Band title. Think how many Tangfastics that'll buy you. It gets better. Last summer The Theory Of Six Degrees played Glastonbury, the youngest band ever to do so. They were invited to by King Michael of Evis himself, who happened to see them play in the nearby Pilton village bop. He was impressed, as anyone should be. Last month they played Trafalgar Square, yes Trafalgar Square! They have the chops, they have the tunes (think feeder busted up in a foo fight) and the hairdos to match.
