There are many ways and techniques for achieving great smokey eyes but it needn't be complicated or time consuming. Follow my guide for quick, fabulous and modern looking smoky eyes using minimal product for maximum effect. This technique works well in any colour you like - play with different shades and have fun!

After posting the pictures on my blog, I had loads of requests to film a tutorial for this look which I created for Cheryl Cole's February ELLE cover. It's a great look as it's cool and sexy without being overdone, and it suits the majority of faces and skin tones. My main aim was to create a 'lived-in' smoky eye, smudgy and imperfect, which looked great paired with strong brows and a pale lip. The other main focal point of the look was strong, sculpted cheekbones, created with lots of blush and contouring - you can see some of the techniques I used on Cheryl here, and I have also filmed a Basic Powder Contouring tutorial which will give you some more tips and advice if you need it. A minefield of the make-up world, contouring is something that can go badly wrong. This video is an introduction to the basic principles of shading and contouring the face with powder. Good contouring can make a wide face appear narrower and cheekbones appear more prominent. It can also help to define the jawline and lift the eyes. All this needs to be done with a light touch using the right product and shade, especially for a daytime look. Once you have mastered the very basic techniques shown here you can build up your skills and really make the most of your bone structure and the shape of your face. This is one of my signature looks. I've done it hundreds of times for models and actresses for shoots and events and I occasionally wear it myself. It can be a great minimal chic look for day or work equally well as a glamorous sexy look for evenings. You can play around with the thickness of the line to create a different feel and experiment with the colour. It takes a bit of practice to do it on yourself but its definitely worth the effort - its a great modern classic!

Lots of fall/winter shows featured either matching lips, cheeks and nails or, in some cases, matching lips, cheeks, eyes AND nails. Its a look which hasn't been that popular for a while as it was seen as pretty naff to pair up lip and nails let alone every area of your face. As much as I love clashing colours its really nice to see this trend winging its way back as its universally flattering, chic and sophisticated. Theres something so classic and pulled together about a monochrome look whichever tones you choose to use. This look was seen using purples, plums, neutral brows, bricks and pinks. I had no idea what look I was going for when I started and just went with the flow. I have a huge selection of the original make-up so just put lots of shades on the make-up table and picked up various colours I felt would work as I went along. I chose Claudia Devlin to apply this look to, not just because she's amazing but also because I feel she really fits the Biba aesthetic and her face really inspired me. Working with these products, developed using the technology of the late 60's, was an eye opener. No crease proof, long lasting formulations for a start. Also the very high pigment levels plus no silicones means a lot more blending!! Interesting enough once the make-up was finished all it took was one quick wipe over with make-up remover and everything was completely gone...this make-up was not designed to last! I hope you enjoy watching this little bit of make-up history come to life!

A laid back look for summer evenings with the focus on natural glowing skin and a simple kohl eye. Great for when you don't want to look too try-hard and haven't got a lot of time. Quick, easy make-up which looks great in that early evening summer sunset light.
I had so many requests for a tutorial on this look after I wore it in the 'New French Manicure' video (and more recently, the fashion week 'Giveaway'). The funny thing is, I was running so late that day, it's ironically one of the quickest and least thought-out looks I've ever done on myself! Very little technique and expert blending is needed so it's good for everyone including make-up rookies! You can adapt the look by adding eyeliner to make it look more done or evening. With all the rosy blush, highlighter and shimmery eyes, Its a really nice skin boosting look too. Pretty for day or night when you need to look polished and pulled together in a jiffy! Finding the right shade of foundation is difficult enough but as many brands dont cover shades lighter than say Mac NC/W15, lots of girls with very pale skin are struggling to find a good match. I receive so many requests daily so I have put together a few solutions and ideas. I've tried to mainly include brands which are widely available. Shimmery, modern textured skin compliements the eyes and keeps everything looking bang up to date. This look can work on all ages...just reduce the glitter and shimmer factor on more mature skins (however, a tiny touch of shimmery light or twinkle on the inner corner of the eye still works perfectly well on a much more mature lady). You can of course swap the green shades for golden bronzes or plummy purples and it'll still be fabulous. You can of course use any brand of eyeshadow, you really dont need to invest in Tom Ford (as much as we love him!). Mac, Maybelline and many other brands have shades very similar to these. What makes this french new is not the colours used (you can use which ever shades you like) or the fact that there is a coloured tip .. its the pointy/oval nail shape with a smile line that mirrors that shape. So instead of going straight across on a square nail shape or mimicking the natural nail bed its extended down the sides and kept very shallow at the tip - a bit like a gentle V shape. Make-up for the beach was a big no no a few years ago, but now with incredible advancements in cosmetic technology it's become super fashionable. Genuinely waterproof formulations, particularly for eyes, open up a whole new world of beauty possibilities. This video gives a few pointers on general beach make-up and focuses on some of the yummiest, brightly coloured products around this summer. Sometimes its just about doing whatever it takes to feel confident especially in the first day or two of a holiday. I always feel a bit self conscious the first day on the beach wearing a bikini so covering a big spot on my chin can really make a huge difference to how I feel! As I say in the video it's all about skin protection, choosing the right textures and having fun!

In the end I decided to submit the silver glitter version but as this is still a fun look i thought it would be a shame to waste it. This look is really easy to adapt by just changing the liner. To make it less of a fantasy party look, dont extend the liner so far up or down. The stars will also work well with simple liner without the lashes....whatever suits your face best! This is a copy of a look I created for the beauty pages of UK Glamour recently. It was my favourite look in the story and as it was so simple and relatively quick, (and Ive had lots of requests from people asking me how to achieve it) I thought it would make a tutorial. The highlight is definitely the lip colour. Its not the easiest colour to wear so you can dupe this with a similar but gentler alternative and still achieve a really good result if you like. The overall look of the make-up is peachy soft and flirty. The spirit was definitely a little bit Catherine Deneuve but done in a modern way. This is a beginners guide to applying individual fake lashes. Its part of a series of two films, the other being a beginners guide to strip lashes I will upload that one tomorrow. Individual lashes give a very different feel to strip lashes because they are less uniform so the effect is more random, feathery and natural looking. You can achieve different effects depending on how many you apply and which lengths you use. I love using them on my clients and myself and hope these application tips will inspire you to give them a go too. To remove, soak a cotton wool pad in eye make-up remover and hold flat over your eye firmly for several seconds. The remover will loosen and dissolve the glue.
