Bald Burglar Nearly Loses Pants During Break-In
One of the thieves can be seen falling in an entryway with his arms wrapped around a television. His pants fall down around his thighs, and his bare bottom is exposed to the camera. For Dennis Lafferty, inventory manager with Home Zone, it has been a long month. He believes the same group is likely responsible for all three break-ins at the store at 2740 Douglas Ave., and may be connected to af More..ourth break-in in March at another Des Moines Home Zone store. "It's costing me a fortune," Lafferty said Friday as police prepared to make copies of surveillance video to release to the news media. He said the burglars are after laptop computers and televisions. In some of the videos burglars can be seen with bandanas covering their faces. They leap over furniture, grab televisions and run out of the store as quickly as possible. "In the last one they were inside for one minute and five seconds," Lafferty said. The first burglary at the west side store at 2740 Douglas Ave., occurred on April 9. The alarm was tripped at 4:46 am The front doors were smashed with a rock. Nine laptop computers were stolen along with the appropriate chargers. The video showed two young men entering the store wearing masks and gloves. The second burglary occurred on April 14 at 4:54 am Again, a rock was thrown through the front doors. Two televisions were stolen, according to a police report.
