10-17-11 A man runs from a massive sandstorm (Haboob) while waiting to see our son play football. The Sand Storm eventually darkens the sky and winds reach over 75 MPH. I shot the video as long as I could, the sand was blasting me, and I eventually had to retreat to my car.

A friend of ours told us about a light in the sky between Ave P and University.. between 80th and 95th in Lubbock, Texas. When he called us we video taped this along with some pictures. There was no sound and it kept flasbing on and off. Several of our neighbors witnessed it. We borrowed their binoculars and you could see red, blue, and green bright lights. Please comment if anyone knows what this is.

Guess so but it looks quite a bit different than whats recorded in Lubbock www.youtube.com LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Strange glowing blue lights flying up and down, side to side and sporadically disappearing and reappearing in the night sky...this is what many south Lubbock residents say they've seen over the last few weeks. After taking several calls, emails and Facebook posts, KCBD decided to check it out and see what was behind these mystery lights. Keith Mowery was just one of many who spotted the blue lights about three weeks ago at his shop off of 87th and Avenue P. "My buddy called me and said you need to get outside right now," said Keith. "It was just the oddest thing. I've never seen anything like it." Keith quickly grabbed his video camera and started to record the lights in the south west sky. "It came down, went into a circle and started blinking," he said. "It was just a round ball, and when you zoomed in on it you could see a blue cloud around it." While Keith says it was much too high to be an airplane, he had no explanation of what he witnessed. "I couldn't really make sense of it because I'd never seen anything quite like it before. I heard later on that other people saw it, and it wasn't just me. So I realized I really wasn't crazy and hadn't been sniffing too many gas fumes," he laughed. Looking back while leaving El Paso, TX headed for Lubbock, TX on US 62/Montana Avenue
This is leaving El Paso, TX headed for Lubbock, TX. We did drive to Lubbock. I basically filmed the road leaving El Paso. I like to look back and watch the city fade away. Leaving El Paso on this road, it takes 15 mins for the city and the smog to fade away. After you leave El Paso on this road, there are no bathrooms for 3 hours straight. It is 158 miles to Carlsbad, NM. It is a 3 hour stretch in the middle of no where. After Carlsbad comes Hobbs, NM. Then Seminole, TX. Seagraves, TX. Wellman, TX. Brownfield, TX. Meadow, TX. Ropesville, TX. Wolforth, TX. Then Lubbock, TX. Most of the Texas cities are all very close together. It is a 6 hour drive to Lubbock, and 347 miles from El Paso.

For the third time since 2005, Lubbock and Texas Tech have hosted this event. The United Spirit Arena serves as the main convention hall with other university buildings hosting other functions as well. The convention also introduces many high school students to Texas Tech.
