Nokia Lumia 800 Review Nokia is putting a lot on the line with the release of the Lumia 800. Running Windows Phone 7.5, the device is something Nokia's CEO Stephen Elop hopes will revive the company's reputation as one of the top phone manufacturers in the world. Now that it's here, is it a step in the right direction? On the hardware front, we are huge fans of the Lumia 800 design. It's sophisticated, sleek and the materials feel fantastic. Nokia's legendary design sense definitely shines through to make one very attractive device. Internally, the Lumia 800 comes equipped with a 3.7-inch WVGA AMOLED ClearBlack display, 8-megapixel camera capable of 720p HD video recording, 1.4GHz single-core processor, 512MB RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Unfortunately, there's is no front-facing cam, so that is something to keep in mind. It's unfortunate that Windows Phone OS doesn't receive the attention it deserves. We're huge fans of Mango, especially the way it handles multitasking through what Microsoft calls Tombstoning (watch the video to see it in action). The OS designmakes for a very elegant, sophisticated user experience that is very snappy even despite the device's specs . In addition, Nokia has added a few custom applications to the Lumia 800 that helps differentiate it from other Windows Phone devices, including Drive and Nokia Maps. On Monday 28th November Nokia Lumia 800 with Windows phone nokia.ly brought deadmau5 and the world's most advanced 4D technology together and created an amazing free light show at Millbank Tower, London. Millbank was plunged into darkness with the iconic tower acting as the canvas for a never-before-seen spectacular. Each of the 120 metre high building's 800 windows were covered with vinyl as 16 powerful projectors, stationed 300 metres away on the other side of the river, beamed 3D images onto the structure. Huge butterflies flew across the London skyline and the tower was twisted, pulsated and even fell down. Billed as the "future of live events" the spectacular show was accompanied by music from super producer deadmau5, who created exclusive remixes for the performance -- adding the 4th dimension. Do you like the Lumia 800? pdog.ws Nokia Windows Phones are finally here! Aaron gets some hands-on time with the Lumia 800, Nokia's flagship Windows device. Featuring a 1.4 GHz Snapdragon CPU, 3.7-inch AMOLED display with Clear Black Technology, 8-megapixel camera with 720p HD video recording, Nokia Maps, and Nokia Music. It'll cost approximately €420 prior to carrier subsidies, and will launch in the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, France, Spain, and The Netherlands in November. Nokia wouldn't confirm whether the Lumia 800 would be coming to the United States, but they did confirm that the first devices won't roll out until 2012. It's a beautiful device and a great start for Nokia's journey with Microsoft, but is it worth waiting for, especially considering the hot Android devices coming out over the holiday season? The packaging is much more unique than the glossy cheap orange boxes from AT&T or shoe-box like boxes from T-Mobile that we've seen a lot of lately. Though I've held the Lumia 800 before, taking a fresh one out of the box and holding that smooth single-piece of carbonate in your hand is extremely impressive. We'll take a closer look at that in our full review, but for now let me tell you what else it comes with. You've got the usual USB charger, Micro USB cable, and some nice headphones with a single-button mic on the wire. You've also got a bunch of documentation in different languages, and a nice silocon rubber case to put the phone in.

Windows Phone 7.5 Review: bit.ly For more, see: pocketnow.com Even though Nokia is probably the Windows Phone manufacturer with the most freedom to customize the operating system, at least with the Lumia 800, they haven't done much at all. The bundled apps consist of only the Nokia Drive GPS navigation program, a "We care" app, and a bluetooth contact transfer app. That's it! Well, you also get the Nokia blue theme color, a bunch of Nokia ring tones and sound effects, some nice Nokia wallpaper images, and a "Feedback to Nokia" option in the settings. We hear that Nokia is also making a music app to include with their devices, but it hasn't shown up on our Lumia 800. Nokia Drive is good to have though. It's not as full featured as some other GPS navigation programs, but it's free, you get free offline downloadable maps from all over the world, and it's very fast. The search/destination field doesn't search contacts though so you'll have to Copy/Paste addresses there. It doesn't integrate with Bing or Bing maps either, which is a sorely missed feature.

Officially called the Nokia Lumia 800, the handset shares the same form-factor as the oh-so-sexy Nokia N9, while adding Windows Phone under the hood. During the keynote this morning in London, Nokia CEO and President Steven Elop described the handset as "The First Real Windows Phone." With the purchase of the 800 you score three Nokia-specific features forcing on navigation, music, and sports. Navigation: The Nokia 800 includes Nokia Drive for free, making it the only Windows Phone with free turn-by-turn directions. It has a polycarbonate casing, a 3.7" AMOLED display with 800 x 480 resolution and an 8MP camera. It runs on a 1.4GHz Qualcomm single core CPU with 16 gigs of storage, and it has HSPA+ 14.4. This is the Euro version and it's GSM. A US version be out later. It has the Zune music and video player, IE 9 web browser (no Adobe Flash), and full PIM and MS Office mobile software.
