BAND...........Lustmord TRACK ........Able ALBUM .......J uggernaut Brian Williams is a British electronic musician often credited for creating the dark ambient genre with albums recorded under the name Lustmord. Williams started recording as Lustmord in 1980 before joining SPK in 1982. Lustmord has extracted field recordings made in crypts, caves, and slaughterhouses, and combined it with occasional ritualistic incantations and Tibetan horns. His treatments of acoustic phenomena encased in digitally expanded bass rumbles have a dark ambient quality. Some of Lustmord's most notable collaborations include Robert Rich on the critically acclaimed "Stalker", Jarboe, John Balance of Coil, Monte Cazazza, Clock DVA, Chris & Cosey, Paul Haslinger and experimental sludge group The Melvins on "Pigs Of The Roman Empire". Williams released the album "Heresy", considered a milestone of the genre of dark ambient in 1990. Williams has contributed to 44 Hollywood film soundtracks as Music Sound designer and occasionally as Additional Composer, most notably on The Crow and Underworld.

Released in 2008 on Hydrahead records. Lustmord is the dark ambient project of sound designer and film composer Brian Williams. Lustmord has been around since 1980. Williams has worked with such bands as TOOL, Melvins, throbbing Gristle, SPK, Coil, Nurse With Wound, Current 93 and many others. Movies he's helped make music for include the likes of Underworld, The Crow, Spawn as well Power Rangers, TMNT and Street Fighter among others. He also played live, after a 25 year hiatus, for The Church Of Satan 40th anniversary, "Center Of Inquiry" live ritual on June 06, 2006. Good times ! Anyways, what you get on (OTHER) is a 8 song, 78 minute slab of pure bleak atmosphere. Very imposing and dark. Big waves of sound and drone come drifting in and out this black abyss. All kinds of treated, nightmarish sounds are used. Loads of cavernous bass rumbling, the sounds of demon wings flapping, low end gurgling, with low, spacey, doom guitar playing by the likes of Adam Jones (TOOL), King Buzzo (Melvins) and Aaron Turner (Isis). The music here is very bleak, dense and post apocalyptic. It also drags on considerably. The sheer amount of darkness and atmosphere is very overwhelming. The music sustains a very desolate tone for the entire album. It is relentlessly gloomy. There are plenty of subtle sounds and textures in the background, but for the most part, this is an epic black hole of music. I'm usually a fan of this kind of atmospheric type of music, but I kept waiting for something to <b>...</b>

Pitch black dub from the devil's jukebox, Lustmord's Transmuted offers two riddim version redo's of dooming tunes from the legendary "dark ambient" pioneer's latest album, Other. It's a thing that has to be heard to be believed, because, well, it actually works. On the A-Side, Jesu/Godflesh main brain Justin K. Broadrick puts drum and bass to "Dub Awakening," spooky graveside acoustics eventually giving way to a bounce that's undeniably of the Jamaican isle -- albeit the part where they still practice Obeah. On the flip, "Er Dub Us," remixed by Lustmord, employs an electronic stutter beat and deep synthesized low end swells to create something that would sound perfectly at home coming off of D-Styles' turntable at The Airliner on a Wednesday night. Terrifying, yes, but awesome as well.
