I really appreciate your invitation to Take to the Sea as a collective. Indeed, every time we engage together in a project, our identity as a collective is fortified. The long nights weve worked to put this presentation were nothing but an empowerment to our brand as a collective. By the same token, Manifesta seems to promote the collective, by inviting curatorial collectives to organize the biennale, just like yourselves. Well, maybe North Africa is not always equally interested in conversing. And as much as I worked so hard to challenge the image of the Arab terrorist, or stone thrower, I must admit, I had to do one more act of assassination. Manifesta 8 en Museo de Bellas Artes de Murcia. MUBAM. Estratégicamente situado junto al campus de la universidad y la plaza de toros, el MUBAM es un edificio ecléctico diseñado en 1910 por el arquitecto Pedro Cerdán donde previamente se encontraba el Convento de la Trinidad. El MUBAM expone una colección de pintura, escultura y artes suntuarias de los siglos XVI al XIX. Recién reformado el Edificio del Contraste para ampliar su espacio expositivo, sus dos nuevas salas acogerán parte del programa de Manifesta 8. Región de Murcia en diálogo con el Norte de África El deseo de explorar el territorio psicológico y geográfico de Europa y sus países vecinos, en tanto concepto y como topografía en expansión, es inherente al carácter nómada de Manifesta. Este proceso pretende establecer un diálogo más cercano entre una situación cultural y artística concreta y el contexto internacional, más amplio, del arte, la teoría y la política contemporáneas, en una sociedad cambiante. Manifesta ha mantenido una vocación paneuropea y ha presentado con éxito a artistas, jóvenes profesionales y estudiantes en prácticas de cuarenta países diferentes.
