I shelled out some Euro to take a spin in my dream car - the Ferrari 458 Italia. The traffic was heavy in Maranello as the Ferrari factory had just let out for the day, but i still had a chance to put my right foot to the floor a few times. Unfortunately there wasn't enough space to get above 225kph (140mph). Still it was fun to drive a car I will most like never be able to own for myself.

A test drive evaluation of a unique 1999 Ferrari 550 Maranello. Another great car from Chicago Motorcars, hosted by Chris Moran. The Ferrari 550 Maranello and 550 Barchetta are 2-seat grand tourers built by Ferrari. Introduced in 1996, the 550 was an upmarket front-engined V12 coupe of the kind not seen since the Daytona. It shared its platform and 5.5 L (5474 cc) engine with the 2+2 456 (Engine Code: F133) but was positioned as the company's highest-end model. The car used a transaxle layout, with the 6-speed manual gearbox located at the back, in-line with the driven wheels. The model number refers to total engine displacement (5.5 litres) and the model name of Maranello refers to the town where the Ferrari headquarters are located. The demise that same year of the F512 M left the company with only the exotic F50 and V8 F355 as mid-engined models. Although the 550 was a softer GT model, it did take the place of the F512 M as the company's upmarket coupe, discounting the F50. The 550 featured a luxurious and roomy interior. The (rear) trunk was tall and wide, though not very deep, and could accept a full set of golf clubs or standard overnight bags. The 550 line was replaced by the Modificata 575 M Maranello in 2002.Engine Ferrari 550 Maranello V12 engine front-engined car. Marking a return to a front-engined layout for flagship sporting Ferraris, the 550 Maranello sparked a revival of more usable Ferrari models. With a layout harking back to the Daytona of the Seventies, the 550 backed up its position by carrying a stick the size of a giant redwood. With 485bhp to call upon, it was at least two seconds quicker around the Fiorano test track than the Ferrari F355 itself no slouch. With used models now starting to appear, can a 550 Maranello justify itself on any rational basis? Find out here. Leaving aside the question of depreciation, performance or running costs, the less tangible aspects of Ferrari ownership come to the fore with the 550. Take the interior for starters. Felipe Massa Drives Ferrari F2007 at Maranello
This morning Felipe Massa was finally back behind the wheel of a Formula 1 single-seater at the Fiorano race track. It wasnt a proper test, but a way for him to regain confidence with his natural habitat: the race track. Thats why the Ferrari F1 Clienti department supplied him with a private F2007, fitted with tyres usually used exclusively in the GP2 series. Due to the rain in the morning Felipe drove around a dozen of laps, satisfied with the first impressions of the test. The thunderstorm over Maranello around 10am didnt ruin Massas day at all. In the afternoon, when the track was dry and the sun came out, he went out again and drove a total of around 100 kilometres.

The Maranello Maniac got loose--this has got to be one of my favorite Ferraris. The 599 GTO as the pinnacle of the modern Ferrari production cars is just amazing. The exhaust note, acceleration of this V12 Berlinetta evokes acceleration time much faster than the Enzo and you can see why. So which do you prefer and why? The Enzo or the 599 GTO. The latest addition to the Ferrari range is a mid-rear-engined two-seater featuring a fully retractable aluminium hard-top, a world first for a sports car with this layout. The 458 Spider's innovative new hard-top is not only 25 kg lighter than a traditional folding soft-top, but is also quieter and thermally more efficient when raised. Aside from taking just 14 seconds to open or close, the hard-top was engineered to occupy a very small space when stored so that the designers were able to include a generous rear bench for luggage behind the two seats.
