Haydamaky - Marusia (studio version)

Haydamaky (Ukrainian variant - Гайдамаки) is a Ukrainian ska-folk-punk-rock band. Haydamaky began their career in 1991, shortly after Ukraine declared its independence from the Soviet Union. Then the band was known as Aktus, and played mostly local gigs in the underground Kiev music scene. Without a fertile, popular local music scene, Aktus turned to the sounds of reggae, ska, and punk music for a fresh alternative. Members of the band were also attracted to the political impact that these genres had on their society. The idea was that through music significant social change could be possible. This is the 10th track from "Kobzar" (2008)

Marusia - I Won't Tell You (Ya ne skazhu tebe)

Marusia Georgevskaya & Sergei Krotkoff This is a rough translation of the song: I won't tell you How avidly I try to meet you, How I love to be near you, How I like to hear you laugh, How I tremble when I touch your hand, How my heart beats When I hear your voice. I won't tell you How I suffer When you speak to another woman Or when you cast a glance at someone else Even by chance. I won't tell you how I cry... No, I won't tell you - You wouldn't understand.

The strophe of Sacris solemniis that begins with the words "Panis angelicus" (Bread of Angels) has often been set to music separately from the rest of the hymn. Most famously, in 1872 César Franck set this strophe for tenor, organ, harp, cello, and double bass; later arranging it for tenor, chorus, and orchestra, he incorporated it into his Messe solennelle Opus 12. The phenomenon whereby the strophe of Sacris solemniis that begins with the words "Panis angelicus" is often treated as a separate hymn has occurred also with other hymns that Thomas Aquinas wrote for Corpus Christi: Verbum supernum prodiens (the last two strophes begin with "O salutaris Hostia") and Pange lingua gloriosi (the last two strophes begin with "Tantum ergo", in which case the word ...
