This highly flexible preamp circuit is enhanced by a very active mid control. The preamp section is coupled to a pair of EL34's power tubes via a 12AX7 phase inverter for tremendous power reserve. The 40 watt Chieftain employs a tube powered spring reverb and a broad array of tone control knobs. The classic range of bass, mid, treble, brilliance and reverb controls provides quick access and visual confirmation of 5 tube based tone shaping parameters. Exceptionally loud sound pressure levels can be attained with no appreciable loss of tone. Additional features include an effects loop and a switchable output impedance (4, 8, 16 ohms). In addition to the signature backlit nameplate, the three channels light up red, white, and blue. Channel one (blue) is powered by one 12AX7 with a volume and tone control. Channel two (white) is powered by one 12AX7 and will provide ample chunk and high-gain lead. Channel three (red) is all about fire. The master volume control is by-passable and features a cut control to thicken up and shave the highs. The power section of the Independence starts with a 5AR4 rectifier tube and the 35 watt output is powered by two EL34s, which are cathode self biasing. A 3 position rotary switch allows for 4, 8, & 16 ohm output. The channels are switched through one footswitch.

www.vintagebike.co.uk The Matchless G50 was developed by Associated Motorcycles at the former Matchless production plant in Plumstead, London. Matchless were involved in the manufacturing of the Matchless G3/L for the British Army during World War 2. The Matchless G50 was built as a dedicated racing bike, competing with the Manx Norton. Matchless G50 Characteristics The Matchless G50 engine was developed from the 350cc AJS 7R, and it was bored out to 500cc. The G50 was capable of an output of 51 bhp, at 7200 RPM. The top speed was 135 mph and it had a four speed gearbox, with a chain drive. Both back and front brakes were drum brakes. Although the Manx Norton - its main competitor in the Isle of Man TT - was more powerful, the Matchless G50 weighed 320 pounds with an empty tank. The light weight made it quicker in the corners and thus competitive in racing. Although financial problems ended the Associated Motorcycles company's production of the Matchless G50, replicas of the motorcycle are still being made today, for use in Historical and Classic bike racing. The Short-Lived Matchless G50 CSR The American Motorcycling Association decreed that the Matchless G50 did not comply with racing regulations for the USA, since it was not based on a street-legal production motorcycle. In order to comply with these rules, AMC developed a street-legal version of their racer, by integrating the G50 engine into a scrambler frame, from the G80CS. Me playing a 2007 Squier Affinity Tele (yes, the cheapest tele they make) that has been modded with a string-through body bridge and EMG T-set pickups. This is all going through the EF86 side of my Ceriatone Matchless DC-30 clone, one of the greatest amps of all time. I've been playing for 3 years, and I know I'm a sloppy player and I have a lot to improve on, but I posted this so you could hear what the amp sounded like, not so everyone could tell me how much better everyone is than me: I know they are. A 1965 Matchless G15CS restoration. The G15 was a marriage of the sturdy Matchless frame and the powerful 750cc Norton Atlas engine. These bikes are also known as the Hybrids, and it came in a Norton varitant as well, N15CS. About 7500 hybrids were built 1964-1968 as the touring version Mk. II, the CS scrambler, the CSR Café Racer and finally the Norton P11. Most of the Hybrids were export for the US market. The CS was born for desert scrambling, but was mainly a street scrambler building on the desert sled style. At 210 kgs dry, these bikes took brave men to scramble anyway. The sound clip of the running engine is the first start after restoration, and the engine still needed fine tuning as can be heard.
