Mel Waiters - Got My Whiskey
MEL WAITERS: 25 June 1956, San Antonio, Texas, USA. Waiters sang in R&B clubs while in his teens, later also singing in a church choir. He spent some time as a disc jockey on local radio, meanwhile continuing to perform whenever opportunities arose and was fortunate to be offered regular work singing at military bases. Waiters began attracting wider audiences on the R&B circuit and in 1996 and again two years later he won the Jackson Music Award. He enjoyed chart success with 'Hit It And Quit It' from his 1995 debut I'm Serious. Another important single success was 'Got My Whiskey' from his third album, Woman In Need. Influenced primarily by Teddy Pendergrass, Waiters' smooth vocal style and his leaning towards slow, soulful ballads continued to bring him steadily more attention and his fourth album Material Things made the Billboard Top 100 R&B charts. The attendant single 'Hole In The Wall' was also a big seller. Among other hit singles have been 'Man Shoes', 'Show You How To Love Again', 'How Can I Get Next To You' and 'The Smaller The Club'. Relaxed and unpretentious, Waiters' material and his approach to it has made him a popular and much-heard radio attraction.

ANS: It was a file i had on my friend's very old HD. I was also surprised it was repeated without sound. YT upgraded my account before to upload longer vids. So I did some test uploads. This was the first test upload. Then I got 2 strikes for trying to upload more Mel Brooks movies. YT eventually downgraded my account so this is the only vid that got passed their radar. I guess the 3 hour vid with half-muted saved it. I've seen some upload mirror copies of a video. oh well, done with this. As much as I'd love to upload more, i can't -- sorry. December 6, 2009 he Kennedy Center Honors which included tributes to Robert DeNiro, Dave Brubeck, Mel Brooks, Grace Bumbry, and Bruce Springsteen. The tribute to Mel Brooks combined singing, dancing, and wonderfully over-the-top humor. Carl Reiner perhaps captured the essence of Mel Brooks when he said that Mel was gifted with a genius brain and brilliantly uncensorable tongue. The tributes to Mel Brooks continued with clips from his old movies including History of the World, Part I and Young Frankenstein. (Nice to see clips of Bea Arthur and Cloris Leachman too!). Musical tributes included a medley of Mel Brooks' hits. Frank Langella invited Obama to "hope for the best, expect the worst" (The Twelve Chairs). Martin Short sang about Blazing Saddles. Jack Black sang about Men In Tights. Harry Connick Jr. then sang about High Anxiety (could someone get me down from here please?) Richard Kind sang and danced about the Inquisition. The Mel Brooks tributes culminated in satirically irreverent performances from The Producers. Glee's Matthew Morrison kicked off with a lyrical rendition of Springtime for Hitler, showing that he can tap dance as well as he can sing. Gary Beach reprised his role as the hilariously flamy Hitler. Matthew Broderick reprised his role as Leo Bloom, ending with a choral rendition of Til Him.

Filmed in wonderful color, this special promotional film was made in 1951 , it is 35 minutes long & is of perfect quality! This lost gem was never shown to the public & was used for promotional use only among record executives! It hasn't been seen in over 55 years!! What's on it? well, we get to see lots of great color footage of Hollywood landmarks first up. Mel plays a record dealer who is desperately trying to sell anyone a record at the corner of Sunset & Vine streets in Hollywood, California. While pestering several people, (including Yogi Yorgeson!!), Billy May approaches playing a regular guy walking down the street, Mel takes him into his record store, (Wallichs Music City) & proceeds to pitch everything in the store to him. In the end Billy won't pay the 85 cents for a record & Mel decides to show him exactly how records are made! They go over to the Capitol Records recording studios on Melrose Avenue & meet with Alan Livingston who takes them on a tour, here is where they run into several famous folks while getting into a little bit of mischief along the way! We get to see rare footage of Dean Martin in the studio actually recording one of his hit records! they run into Les Paul and Mary Ford, a vocal group, a country & western singer (Merle Travis?), and even Bozo the clown!
