Mercedes-Benz has announced full details on the 2012 CLS 63 AMG model. New for the CLS 63 is now AMG's 5.5 liter biturbo V8 engine, which replaces the outgoing naturally aspirated 6.3 liter V8. The new 5.5 liter biturbo unit features a peak output of 410 kW (557 PS/550 bhp) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque with the AMG Performance package. The standard engine configuration is rated at 386 kW (525 PS / 521 bhp) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque. Both units are mated to the AMG Speedshift MCT 7-speed sport transmission. Fuel economy on the standard CLS 63 AMG now comes in at under 10 liter/100 km (a noteworthy achievement) - with a 9.9 liters per 100 km rating on the European cycle (NEDC). That represents a remarkable 32 percent improvement in fuel-economy over the predecessor's 6.3 liter unit with an output of 378 kW (514 PS/510 bhp) and 630 Nm (465 lb-ft) of torque. That new fuel-economy rating comes by means of a stop/start system, engine technology such as piezo injectors and an aluminum crankshaft, as well as the use of aluminum panels in the body. The 0 to 100 km/h sprint is 4.4 seconds for the standard model and 4.3 seconds for the CLS 63 with the AMG Performance package. The standard variant has a top speed electronically limited to 250 km/h (155 mph). The CLS 63 AMG comes with 3 drive modes: 'S' (Sport), 'S+' (Sport plus) and 'M' (Manual) and features AMG Ride Control suspension for a smoother, more exact ride quality with 3 modes of its own: Comfort, Sport and <b>...</b>

Jorrik went for a testride in the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG! We had this C63 for 1,5 hour to test it and compare it to the BMW M3 E92, wich I allready have driven earlier. First you see some shots from the exteriour, than it start ups and making some very nice revs! After that you will hear and see some accelerations and finally some shots inside when accelerating on the highway in the Netherlands :) The question is: Wich one should you choose? The C63 AMG or the M3? Before I drove the C63 I should definitely have chosen the C63 AMG, but after I have driven it I should choose the M3. The M3 is much smoother.... I don't know how I need to explain it in proper in English, but my choice is the M3! Mercedes-Benz has introduced the 2012 ML63 AMG just ahead of its debut at the Los Angeles auto show on Wednesday. The ML63 AMG is powered by a 5.5-liter V8 biturbo engine with an output of 518 hp (386 kW / 525 PS) and 516 lb-ft (699 Nm) of torque. Fuel-economy has been improved rather dramatically over the previous unit (33 percent) and now features a rating of 16 mpg (14.7 liters/100 km). Customers wanting more power can opt for the AMG Performance Package which boosts the V8's output to 550 hp (410 kW / 558 PS) and a maximum torque of 560 lb-ft (758 Nm). Acceleration on the standard model is 4.7 seconds for the 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) sprint while its a quicker 4.6 seconds with the AMG Performance Package. Top speed is 155 mph (250 km/h) standard and 174 mph (280 km/h) with the performance pack. New on the ML63 AMG is the Active Curve System which stabilizes body roll for more solid handling of this large SUV. The AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 7-speed automatic transmission also gets a new fuel-efficient torque converter that helps boost fuel-economy. The press release below has full details. Test drive and walkaround of a PRISTINE 2008 Mercedes-Benz ML550 Sport from Chicago Cars Direct. Outside the change isnt so evident; the new M looks a lot like the old, re-rendered in hi-def. The corners and bodyside lines are a little more creased; the trim and sparse chrome bits a little more defined. The saw-tooth grille insert is reminiscent of machined industrial equipment. Jeweled taillamps and HID headlights complete the high-tech theme. One thing hasnt changed, thoughthat oversized, tri-pointed star on the grille is still suitable for Flava-Flavs accessory drawer. Under the skin, the M has grown up, too. Engine choices are mostly new or updated, from the bread-and-butter V6 ML350 to the tested ML500, with prices increasing concurrent to horsepower. Weve driven the 268-horse ML350 model (at around $39000 to start), and found it to be smooth if not exactly powerful. Zero-to-sixty acceleration is claimed to be an utterly adequate 8.4 seconds. In other words, its entirely sufficient for the soccer mom stereotype that we often see behind the wheel of these machines. And then theres that V8. The heart of the $48500 ML500, weve enjoyed this same motor in a number of Benzesand even in this second-heaviest of applications (the new R-Class non-minivan is just a smidge stouter), its a beaut. With 339 lb.-ft. of torque, theres no shortage of off-the-line gruntand the 302 horsepower rating means the M pulls to way beyond our own limits on public roads (self-imposed restraint <b>...</b>
