I like this band a lot. Got their two EP's. History: "New York City's most famous dark-rock band in the '80s, Of a Mesh featured the dramatic crooning of Alan Dollgener duetting with Samara Lubelski's haunting violin atop a claustrophobic cobweb of sound. Of a Mesh formed in the fall of 1983 in New York City, led by Dollgener and Lubelski. They took their name from Maya Deren's 1943 avant-garde silent film Meshes of the Afternoon. Of a Mesh honed their spectral proto-gothic craft on two legendary demo sessions during 1984-85 (highlighted by fan favorites "CIT" and "Twist"), and numerous gigs at venues like Danceteria, CBGB, Subway, and Pyramid, opening for the likes of Sonic Youth and Butthole Surfers." Adaptive mesh sculpting 3
A number of new sculpting tools were added since the last video, and the user interface has been made a lot prettier and more user-friendly. Well, actually there was no user graphical interface at all until today, as everything was previously controlled through keyboard shortcuts. I've also added a clay-like pixel shader that is both attractive and useful - you get a better sense of the shape when you have some specular lights going on, compared to the old diffuse vertex shading. The object I made here started out as 500 triangles and ended with 34.000. Some speed optimization will be needed to go significantly beyond that, but it shouldn't be a big problem. Music is Gluck vs Puccini.

Deforming Meshes that Split and Merge, SIGGRAPH 2009
We present a method for accurately tracking the moving surface of deformable materials in a manner that gracefully handles topological changes.We employ a Lagrangian surface tracking method, and we use a triangle mesh for our surface representation so that fine features can be retained. We make topological changes to the mesh by first identifying merging or splitting events at a particular grid resolution, and then locally creating new pieces of the mesh in the affected cells using a standard isosurface creation method.We stitch the new, topologically simplified portion of the mesh to the rest of the mesh at the cell boundaries. Our method detects and treats topological events with an emphasis on the preservation of detailed features, while simultaneously simplifying those portions of the material that are not visible. Our surface tracker is not tied to a particular method for simulating deformable materials. In particular, we show results from two significantly different simulators: a Lagrangian FEM simulator with tetrahedral elements, and an Eulerian grid-based fluid simulator. Although our surface tracking method is generic, it is particularly well-suited for simulations that exhibit fine surface details and numerous topological events. Highlights of our results include merging of viscoplastic materials with complex geometry, a taffy-pulling animation with many fold and merge events, and stretching and slicing of stiff plastic material.

3D mesh captured from video!
A creative way to grab a mesh from video using free camera tracking software. This is normally used to add 3D images to video, but it can also obtain them. With this dramatic look at video editing, we can even mod YouTube clips! If the camera is moving, 3D data is scraped right off the screen. This tutorial explains how to scan, interpolate or otherwise recognize a 3D mesh from a short video clip using Blender. First we capture the points using voodoo, then we import into blender and shrinkwrap a mesh onto the captured points. The result is a crude 3D model of a real world object or person. Corrections: I forgot to tell you to click on "Rem Double" to remove duplicate vertices. Master the matrix. Why build a 3D scanner when we already have one!
