Methylphenidate is thought to block the reuptake of norepinephrine and dopamine into the presynaptic neuron and increase the release of these monoamines into the extraneuronal space.

A live version of Methy. Somebody told me about a conversation he had with a guy and he thought the name of song was "Dosing Methylphenidate" by "Moses and His Broses." Which would have made a SICK band name. But, we're broken up now, due to "creative differences," and constant arguments that would have made it impossible to go on. I guess we just grew apart. (Trying to be neutral, here) This would be the first and last time we preformed this song in front of people on stage. When we made the song we were called "The Plug-in Babies", but we changed our name to "Mitch's Band" prior to this show. I think we disbanded like, 2 days after this show. So, this is a piece of history right here. Also, Chown added a sick solo for this version of the song. We also played one other song after this one, it was untitled, though. I don't think Chown would be too happy if I released it, but I think it's great, and I'm sure the people on here would, too. Nowadays, me (Mitch, Bassist) and Brad (Drummer) and working on a new band with guitarist Nick Lovalente and vocalist David Sweet. I personally don't talk to Chown much anymore, but I doubt he'd mind me posting this. I'm pretty sure nowadays he's busy exploring musical theory (he's like a fucking god at that stuff) and I'm pretty sure he's planning to get some sorta degree in phycology, or something. Correct me if I'm wrong. Well, I hope you guys enjoy this. -Mitch Theriault

A medicine widely used to treat attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder also provides long-term relief from the attention and behavior changes that affect many childhood cancer survivors, according to a trial led by St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Researchers reported that one year after starting the drug methylphenidate, young cancer survivors scored better on tests of sustained attention and other measures of attention, social skills and behavior than did a similar group of unmedicated survivors. Heather Conklin, Ph.D., of the St. Jude Psychology department, is the first author of the research published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology. For more information: bit.ly jco.ascopubs.org

Patients with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder(ADHD) who are taking stimulant drugs such as Adderall (amphetamine-dextroamphetamine), Ritalin (methylphenidate) and Strattera (atomoxetine hydrochloride) will soon be given a Patient Medication Guide each time the prescription is filled. The medication guide will warn that there have been reports of sudden death in children and adolescents with pre-existing structural cardiac abnormalities or other serious heart problems who were taking stimulant drugs to treat their ADHD. Sudden death, stroke and MI have also been reported in adults with underlying risk factors for these events who took ADHD drugs. The causative role of the stimulants is not clear because pre-existing heart problems themselves carry an increased risk of sudden death. Nevertheless, patients with known serious cardiac problems should generally not use stimulant drugs. The medication guide will also warn about a slight increased risk for drug-related psychiatric adverse events, such as hearing voices, paranoia or mania, even in patients who did not have previous psychiatric problems. FDA recommends that patients who may be treated with these drugs work with their health care provider to develop a treatment plan that includes a careful health and family history, and an evaluation of current health status, especially for cardiovascular and psychiatric conditions. Patients should contact a doctor promptly if symptoms develop that are suggestive of heart ...

Original song and video by Squirehogg. It's amazing how even a Psychiatrist who prescribes this medication has no answers. Fact: There is a nationwide shortage of Adderall tablets (brand name and generic) as well as some other medications such as Ritalin (methylphenidate). The rest is murky... The FDA says the DEA restricted the annual production of Adderall, brand name and generic. The DEA blames the shortage on the drug companies trying to steer their customers to more expensive brand name meds like Vyvanse, Adderall XR, Focalin XR, Daytrana, Concerta. I believe the medication is often misused, abused and overprescribed in some sectors of society. But the FDA, DEA and the pharmaceutical companies need to come clean and explain what the problem is. Patients who need this medicine can't get it. The situation is making innocent patients suffer, and places a ridiculous burden on pharmacists and doctors.

This film is the first part of a series of films following Jimmy Gallagher. The film is entitled Lectures from the Street as we think the experiential information Jimmy imparts to us about being a long term drug addict should be recorded. In this film he begins with talking about the dangers of injecting crack and heroin together as a snowball and drifts into focus on ritalin abuse...watch out to those that are squeamish as he shows us his scars from injecting ritalin in the 1970's. It would be useful if workers from Canbridge Ad-Action were to see this. This is a Kringe made film and will be put in the catagory of Kringe Street.
