Mississippi Highway Murders; Police hunt for suspected fake Cop in highway shooting deaths
Tunica Miss.-Police fear someone is posing as a police officer in Mississippi and pulling over victims before killing them, after two highway murders that were thought to have occurred at random were connected Monday. Lori Anne Carswell, 47, was shot and killed on Highway 713 -- a popular route for people traveling along the interstate to and from work in Tunica -- after leaving Fitzgerald's Casino about 2:00am local time Friday. On May 8, 74-year-old Thomas Schlender was shot and killed about 1:30am local time while driving southbound on I-55 near Batesville, Miss. "There are some similarities between the two incidents, mainly the fact they happened alongside a Mississippi highway," Mississippi Bureau of Investigation director Lt. Col. Larry Waggoner said, according to The Commercial Appeal. "The concern is that someone is posing as a law enforcement officer and that is how these vehicles end up on the side of the road."

In 1970, the town of Charleston, Mississippi, allowed black students into their white high school, but refused to integrate the senior prom. Twenty-seven years later, Charleston resident and Academy Award¨-winning actor Morgan Freeman offered to finance the prom - under the condition it be integrated. His offer was ignored. In 2008, Freeman made the offer again. This time the school board accepted, and history was made. PROM NIGHT IN MISSISSIPPI traces the tumultuous events leading up to Charleston's first integrated prom through intimate conversations with students, families, faculty members and Freeman himself. As the film unfolds, we delve deeply into the heated race issues that tear apart this tiny community, and realize that this troubling segregation has less to do with the students than their parents. Driving east on Interstate 155 from Caruthersville MO to Dyersburg TN looking south. Just past the bridge, the Bunge grain bins can be seen with sandbags protecting it. Flood stage is 32 feet. River is at 44.3 feet with crest forecasted to be 48 feet on 5-7-2011. Video really doesn't show how much water there is. Couldn't capture everything on the MO side because of the trees.

Here is the recipe for Aunt Myrna's Mississippi Mud Pie: BOTTOM LAYER 2 sticks butter melted (1 cup) 1/2 cup cocoa powder 4 eggs beaten 2 cups sugar 1 1/2 flour 1/2 cup pecans 1 tsp vanilla 1/2 tsp salt mix butter & cocoa and then add eggs and sugar. blend well. then fold in flour. Then add pecans, vanilla, salt. bake 9x13 pan 350 for 35 minutes. check with toothpick. large pack in mini marshmallows spread all on top. Back in oven until melted. TOPPING 1 box confectionary sugar 1/2 cup any milk 1/3 cup cocoa 1 stick of melted butter (1/2 cup) mix it all together. Beat well. All smooth. Pour on top of marshmallows.
