Google+ for Android version 2.6 video walkthrough

MobileBurn.com - Today, Google released version 2.6 of the Google+ app for Android smartphones and tablets. The new version brings over the redesigned Stream layout that we first saw on the iOS version that was updated a few weeks ago, as well as new features like the ability to start Hangouts from a mobile device and edit existing posts while on the go. While the new version of the app is very pretty and aesthetically pleasing, we find that it is not as fast or easy to use as earlier versions, and that's not something we are terribly happy with. You can download Google+ for Android from the Google Play Store now. More info: www.mobileburn.com

The first Samsung Windows Phone to feature support for AT&T's 4G LTE network, the Focus 2 features a 4-inch WVGA Super AMOLED display and 1.4GHz processor. Its chassis is comprised of glossy plastic, which can make the phone a bit difficult to handle. There is a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash and 720p video capabilities on the back of the phone, while a front-facing camera handles video chat duties. The Samsung Focus 2 will be available from AT&T on May 20 for $49.99. More info: www.mobileburn.com

Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G (T-Mobile) smartphone review

MobileBurn.com - The Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G for T-Mobile is a mid-range smartphone with an almost retro design and 4-inch display. It bears a striking resemblance to a BlackBerry Bold 9700, but under the hood it is fully modern. It is powered by a fast dual-core 1.5GHz processor and 1GB of RAM, and it supports T-Mobile's speedy HSPA+ 42Mbps network. It also has a 5 megapixel camera with 720p video capabilities. Unfortunately, it runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread instead of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and T-Mobile has installed a lot of bloatware applications that will likely be of little use to many customers. Fortunately, Samsung's TouchWiz interface does not slow the Blaze 4G's performance at all. The Blaze 4G will cost $149.99 with a new two-year agreement when it is available nationwide on March 28. Nokia N9 video review

MobileBurn.com - The Nokia N9 was announced earlier this summer as Nokia's new flagship smartphone. Unfortunately, its reign did not last very long, as it was usurped by the Lumia 800 Windows Phone 7.5 smartphone in October, and the N9 was discontinued. The N9 features some very interesting hardware and software design concepts though, and the Lumia 800 borrows heavily from the N9's hardware design. Nokia built the N9 out of a single piece of polycarbonate, and the curved Gorilla Glass display melds directly into it. It has no seams and no doors, and is very attractive, while being durable at the same time. The N9 runs Nokia's MeeGo Harmattan operating system, which is unlike anything else on the market. Requiring zero hardware buttons, MeeGo uses swipes and gestures to navigate the software. It is very smart and intuitive, and attractive to boot. It's a shame that Nokia has decided to discontinue development of it for business reasons. The N9 is available now in limited markets around the world, though not the US or UK. HP TouchPad running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (CM9) video tour

MobileBurn.com - The HP TouchPad may have left the factory running webOS, but that hasn't stopped developers from shoe-horning Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich onto it. The Cyanogen Mod team has been hard at work getting a version of Android 4.0 working on the TouchPad, and, for the most part, they have been successful. Though important things like the camera, microphone, and hardware-accelerated video (read: no Netflix or HD video playback) are not yet working, most everything else is, and if you use your tablet to read, browse the web, and handle email as I do, then Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich CM9 Alpha 6 certainly works well for that. Performance is quite impressive, even better than many of the official Android 3.x Honeycomb tablets that I have used. Apps open swiftly and panning around the homescreens has virtually no lag. Installing CM9 on the TouchPad might not be for the faint of heart, but if you have installed a custom ROM on an Android smartphone in the past, its certainly something that you can probably handle. Samsung Galaxy Note (AT&T) video review

MobileBurn.com - The Samsung Galaxy Note for AT&T is a unique device that sits right in between a smartphone and a tablet in the mobile device ecosystem. Though it is sold as a phone, the Note's massive 5.3-inch display makes it feel like a tablet when you hold it. Unfortunately, the Note doesn't really offer the best phone experience or the best tablet experience, because of the compromises it makes to straddle the line. The high-res screen is gorgeous, and performance is overall pretty good, though we did notice some lag in the interface. Hopefully that will be address when the Note is updated to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The other interesting part of the Note is its included S Pen input device, which lets the user control the phone and write on the screen with a stylus. Samsung included a handful of apps to take advantage of the S Pen's unique capabilities, but, as it stands right now, it is pretty limited in what it can do. The Galaxy Note will be available from AT&T on February 19 for $299.99 with a new two year contract. It supports AT&T's 4G LTE network, though LTE coverage from AT&T is pretty sparse right now. Nokia Lumia 900 Windows Phone smartphone review

MobileBurn.com - The Nokia Lumia 900 is one of the most hotly-anticipated smartphones of the year. It is the first Nokia with support for 4G LTE, the first high-end Nokia to be offered by an American carrier in years, and one of the first Windows Phone smartphones with 4G LTE support. It features design elements from the Lumia 800 and N9 that preceded it, but it has a larger, 4.3-inch ClearBlack AMOLED display that looks fantastic. The single piece polycarbonate design is a joy to handle, and the 1.4GHz single-core processor pushes around the Metro Windows Phone interface with ease. Unfortunately, the 8 megapixel camera with f/2.2 28mm Carl Zeiss lens leaves a lot to be desired, with poor white balance and terrible low light performance. Samsung Conquer 4G (Sprint) smartphone hands-on video tour

MobileBurn.com - The Samsung Conquer 4G is the first WiMAX smartphone from Sprint to be released at a price point south of $100 on contract. Because of this lower price point, the Conquer 4G does not have the most up-to-date specs or the largest screen on the market. Its 1GHz Snapdragon processor and bone-stock build of Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread is no slouch though, and get the job done for most intents and purposes. The 3.5-inch screen is HVGA (320 x 480 pixel) resolution, but it appears to be noticeably granier and more pixelly than one would expect for a screen of this size. The Conquer 4G has a 3 megapixel rear camera, with flash and autofocus, and a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera. It does not record HD video however. Nokia N9 white MeeGo smartphone hands-on

MobileBurn.com - Despite its classification as a dead product, Nokia went ahead and announced a new version of the venerable N9 today, a white model with 64GB of internal storage. The white version is exactly the same on the inside as the black, cyan, and magenta models, but it eschews the matte finish found on those for a glossier front. Thankfully, Nokia kept the build quality the same, with a single piece of machined polyurethane making up the body of the phone. Nokia says that the white N9 will be available in the same markets as the other colors before the end of this year. More info: www.mobileburn.com

Samsung HM7000 Bluetooth headset quick review

MobileBurn.com - The Samsung HM7000 is a new small and light Bluetooth headset from the prolific manufacturer. It offers multipoint connections, dual-mic noise cancellation, and a carrying case/charging dock that triples the time in between charges. It also supports voice commands (which failed 100 percent of the time for me) and can be controlled with the FreeSync Android companion app. The app doesn't seem to be working all that well though, as I could not get any of its functions to work in my tests. Sound quality on the headset was clear, though it could benefit from a boost in volume. The HM7000 is available now with a suggest retail price of $99.99. More info: www.mobileburn.com

HTC Titan II (AT&T) Windows Phone smartphone review

MobileBurn.com - The HTC Titan II is the successor to the original Titan released last November. It is largely the same as the older model, save for two key differences: a new 16 megapixel camera and support for AT&T's 4G LTE network. The Titan II's 4.7-inch Super LCD screen is nice, but its WVGA resolution is lacking. The large size of the display does make the phone hard to use with one hard, as well. The Titan II is powered by a single-core, 1.5GHz processor, and it does a good job of moving around the Windows Phone 7.5 Metro interface. Native apps open swiftly, but third-party apps still take too long to open. The new camera is impressive, with good performance in both good and poor lighting, and the 720p video captured is smooth. The Titan II is available now from AT&T for $199.99 with a new two-year contract. More info: www.mobileburn.com

Samsung Focus S (AT&T) Windows Phone 7.5 smartphone review

MobileBurn.com - The Samsung Focus S is the second of two new Windows Phone 7.5 smartphones released by AT&T and Samsung this fall. Featuring a 4.3-inch, Super AMOLED Plus display and an 8.5mm thick frame, the Focus S is a dead ringer for the Galaxy S II Android smartphones from Samsung. It is powered by a 1.4GHz, single-core processor and has 16GB of internal storage, but lacks microSD expansion - like most Windows Phone smartphones. The Focus S has the same 8 megapixel autofocus camera as found on the Galaxy S II models, but it can only record 720p video, instead of 1080p. The Focus S is available now from AT&T for $199.99 with a new two-year contract. More info: www.mobileburn.com

Samsung Galaxy S II (AT&T) hardware and software video tour - part 2 of 2

MobileBurn.com - AT&T is the second major carrier in the US to release a version of the Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone, following Sprint and its Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch. AT&T's version is much more faithful to the original, global edition than Sprint's is, as it features the same 4.3-inch, WVGA (480 x 800 pixel) resolution Super AMOLED display and square corners as the global model. It is powered by the same 1.2GHz dual-core Samsung Exynos processor as the others, and features 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. The AT&T Galaxy S II has the same 8 megapixel camera with autofocus and flash, as well as the same 2 megapixel front-facing camera. The rear camera will record 1080p HD video. Like the others, AT&T's model runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread and Samsung's TouchWiz 4 interface, though there are some minor differences between it and the version of TouchWiz on the Sprint model. AT&T will be releasing the Galaxy S II on October 2 for $199.99 with a new two-year contract. More info: www.mobileburn.com
