Smartphones using encryption and biometrics will enable telecom companies to compete with banks and credit card companies for retail payment transactions. Expect wireless payments using smartphones to grow rapidly. Despite this, some customers will continue to prefer cash because it allows anonymous purchases and is convenient for smaller purchases. Mobile payments could generate commissions of up to EU2 billion a year in countries like France, Germany, Italy and the UK. What would happen if -- say -- Vodafone formed a partnership with Google, Nokia and American Express? Implications for financial services, small loans, large ticket purchases of white goods, cars and other big items. Hey this is Brian from Brian's Brew. I recently switch from Square to SalesVu. SalesVu is the best point of sale and mobile payment solution I've ever seen. SalesVu's card reader is more stable and more secure than Squares. Their rates are better. With Square, if I enter the card manually, because of an account that I have on file or a scratched card, they want to charge 3.5%. With SalesVu, it's still 2.7% for manually entered cards. With Square if I do more than a $1000 I have to wait 30 days for the funds to post. With SalesVu, it doesn't matter how much I do, it's still the next day. I love this SalesVu app because it just blows Square out of the water. It is the best point of sale. Square is very basic. You put items on there, once you get over 20 items you have trouble finding everything, but with this SalesVu app, you can look at it through category, you can look at it alphabetically, you can program the list where, the top of list is what you're selling the most. You can find anything in seconds. It's very user friendly. I love how I can just program modifiers in, if someone wants to make a latte a soy latte I can have that charge as a modifier. You can't do that with Square. There's a great part of the app that connects with facebook. It's fantastic for viral marketing. There's a discount button on the app that's not on Square. You can program it to be what ever kind of discount you want. That's not anything close to what Square offers. The great thing about ...

BY MEGAN NOEYou're watching multisource tech video news analysis from Newsy. A new war is underway in the tech world-- and it could end with the disappearance of your credit card. Google is expected to enter the mobile payment race Thursday with a mobile wallet that would allow payment from Sprint Nexus S cell phones. KABC explains. "Internet giant Google is reportedly going to launch a mobile payment platform that lets people use their phones to pay just like they would a credit card. Data would be transmitted with taps, waves or swipes at store checkouts. Google's chief said he expects the tap-and-pay mobile technology to eventually replace credit cards." The announcement would be a blow to Apple, which a "Cult of Mac" blogger says isn't likely to have the near-field-communication, or NFC, capabilities until 2012. The Atlantic Wire, though, sees another possibility. "It's entirely possible, however, that Apple is being characteristically Machiavellian in its mobile payment strategy. NFC capabilities top the list of rumors swirling about the release date and feature set on the iPhone 5, and the June deadline for the annual iPhone update is just days away." Google's biggest competition may be Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey and his mobile payment start-up called Square, which is already processing $3 million in mobile payments a day. On CNBC's Power Lunch Monday, Dorsey discussed his new app and the competition. "We think that a lot of these people are focusing on parts of ...
