This is a dramatically improved prototype of a 144v 500amp DC motor controller for an electric car. It is open source, and will soon be available in the form of a kit. It is in the beta testing phase right now. This initial test was done at 72v.

Half-cycle control of 230V AC ceiling fan motor. This is needed to change the speed of the motor, which is low-cost and long-life. Since it has a large moment of inertia, the mains current can be cut periodically without too much noise. Switching is done at zero-crossing, so no switching noise. IC's used are: PIC16F819 (A/D conversion, zero-crossing triggered ISR), HCPL-354 (zero-crossing optocoupler) MOC3042 (zero-crossing triac optocoupler) and a regular 8A triac.

This is a Stepper Motor Controller with speed control and forward reverse functions. The circuit is very simple only using a 555 timer and a 74LS74 dual flip-flop and a few other components. Your welcome to download a drawing of the controller circuit, its free and open-source as i drew the circuit myself. The transistors used to drive the stepper motor windings are BD131 which should drive about 1.5 amps per winding(I think). Precision Motion Control: An embedded computer controls a brushless 3-phase servo motor (Sanyo Denki BL Super P5) using three sections of a quad H-bridge. The motor also has a 2048 line encoder with an index pulse. Encoder pulses and PWM output are displayed on the oscilloscope. The high current power supply is a bridge rectified toroidal transformer fed by a variac (autotransformer) to set the voltage level. Employing USB connectivity, a PC software application written in C++ submits position and stop commands, receives and transmits I/O and receives encoder specified position. I got my home made BLDC motor controller working finaly with 3 Hall sensors. Getting the right timing is hard especially when your Hall sensors are atached to a flimsy piece of card board and there's some funky stuff going on with your controller and it freaks out all the time regardless of the timing. But i got it right eventually and like magic the bugs in the controller stopped.. hm.. wierd.. Anyway i'm just glad the dang thing is acctually working now. All thats left is to mout the sensors properly and get the motor mounted on my bike so i can start testing if she'll go with my 50 A car alternator as the motor.

Team Swinburne Electric 2010, AKA tse_10, was the first year a group of Swinburne engineering students endevoured to develop and build an Electric Vehicle for the Formula SAE competition. The team hit trouble when they blew up their motor controller, just over a week before the competition. The team then borrowed another motor controller which also ended up blowing. The team then borrowed ANOTHER motor controller, to which they had some success, until the night before the competition, when it also blew up. In total the team blew up 3x $4000 controllers, 6 times (after repairs). It is thought that the motor is faulty and is causing the issues. This is my first Arduino project and my first ever video. High Concept: Xbox360 Controller is used to control a RC Car. Nitty Gritty: A C++ program runs on a laptop. The program uses an input library called Object Oriented Input System found here, sourceforge.net/projects/wgois/. The program reads the input from the Xbox360 controller and sends simple data serially through the USB port to the Arduino. The serial library was found here, codeguru.com/cpp/in/network/serialcommunications/article.php/c2503. The car's original circuit board was ripped out and the Arduino was hooked up to the car's drive and steering motors. A dual H-bridge motor controller is used to control the motors. Future: - Supa Charge! Make this run off a RC Car battery rather than USB. - Go wireless using bluetooth - Add a wireless camera with pan and tilt functionality - Add siren leds that toggle on/off when I push a button on the Xbox360 controller

Here is a dual purpose Motorized Dolly I made, It can be used as a time lapse dolly or a motor dolly with the appropriate controller. The time lapse engine is from Dynamic Perception. The joystick motor controller is my own design. I will post more details later. I got the joystick off ebay. Look for "potentiometer joystick" They are used for security camera controllers and claw crane games. The motor controller is from www.basicmicro.com Belts are 3/8" XL series from, shop.polybelt.com The 12 volt gear motor came from. www.drillspot.com The pulleys and belts are XL series for 3/8" wide belts. The outside diameter of the pulleys is 2 inch. The shafts, flanged bearings, and shaft collars are all 5/16". The shaft collars have set screws which makes them easy to install. All the drive components were purchased from Amazon.com www.amazon.com Hardware can be purchased locally also. I purchased the 80/20 aluminum extrusion from eBay "80/20 Garage Sale", they sell 80/20 with slight defects in color or minor handling marks for much less then on their normal web store. GSM Controlled Robot - AVR Project


In the project the robot is controlled by a mobile phone that makes a call to the mobile phone attached to the robot. In the course of a call, if any button is pressed a tone corresponding to the button pressed is heard at the other end called 'Dual Tone Multiple frequency' (DTMF) tone. The robot receives these tones with help of phone stacked in the robot. The received tone is processed by the microcontroller with the help of DTMF decoder ic cm8870 .these ic sends a signals to the the motor driver ic l293d which derives the motor forward,revarse...etc
