Mozart - Requiem

Requiem Mass in D Minor Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's final Masterpiece was commissioned in mid 1791 by the Austrian count Franz Von Walsegg, as a Tribute to the passing of his young wife Anna. Mozart began his final composition in Prague, suffering from an undetermined illness, which would eventually take his life and rob him of the chance to see the completion of his Magnum Opus. After Mozart's death, his understudy 'Franz Xaver Süssmayr', at the behest of Mozart's wife, completed the missing parts of the Requiem. Requiem Mass was first performed on January 2, 1793, in a private concert for the benefit of Mozart's grieving wife, Constanze Mozart. The Following are the lyrics, translated from their Original Latin Grant them eternal rest, Lord, and let perpetual light shine on them. You are praised, God, in Zion, and homage will be paid to You in Jerusalem. Hear my prayer, to You all flesh will come. Grant them eternal rest, Lord, and let perpetual light shine on them. Lord, have mercy on us. Christ, have mercy on us. Lord, have mercy on us. Day of wrath, day of anger will dissolve the world in ashes, as foretold by David and the Sibyl. Great trembling there will be when the Judge descends from heaven to examine all things closely. The trumpet will send its wondrous sound throughout earth's sepulchres and gather all before the throne. Death and nature will be astounded, when all creation rises again, to answer the judgment. A book will be brought forth, in which all will be <b>...</b>

Mozart Symphony 41 K 551 - Molto Allegro

Woody Allen once said that Mozart's Symphony 41 proved the existence of God. Certainly, a symphony of such grandness and scale had, until the summer of 1788, never before been seen in the musical universe. Its implications for the direction of music in the future, and its influence on future composers is immeasurable. What makes Mozart's Jupiter symphony worthy to share the name of the most powerful god of the Roman world? The answer to this question comes in the Molto Allegro, and more specifically in its coda, (8:09-8:36). In the coda, Mozart takes the five musical themes or melodies that had been developed throughout the final movement, and does something that no one has ever achieved to the extent that he did, not even the illustrious Beethoven. What Mozart does is take these five themes and combines them to create a fugato in five-part counterpoint. That is, he takes the five melodies and simultaneously plays them in a variety of combinations and permutations. Imagine five separate melodies, all with their own notes, being played simultaneously, but each constantly changing. It's impossible for the human ear to focus on the enormous amount of notes that this simultaneous playing and constant changing entails. The effect is that the music seems to encompass an infinite amount of sound. With lesser two or three-part fugues, it is occasionally possible to sense everything that is going on. Once you get to four voices, it's nearly impossible to detect all of the nuances <b>...</b>

Mozart Piano Concerto 5 (Malcolm Frager, piano) movement 1

Mozart composed this concerto at the end of 1773, about the same time as the "little G minor" Symphony No. 25, as shows about as much promise of genius and fun as the symphony. The great virtuoso Malcolm Frager beautifully scales back his formidable technique to play this rather simple and charming concerto with terrific wit and a smile. Malcolm Frager was born in 1935, started studying the piano at six, and at 10 he had his premiere with the St. Louis Symphony. Carl Friedberg, a pupil and freind of Clara Schumann, was his teacher at Juilliard and trained him in the great Romantic traditon. Mozart " Requiem Dies Irae "

The Requiem Mass in D minor (K. 626) by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was composed in 1791. The requiem was Mozart's last composition, and is one of his most popular and most respected works. There has been a debate over how much of the music Mozart managed to complete before his death, and how much was later composed by Franz Xaver Süssmayr, or possibly others.

Mozart - The Magic Flute - Overture (Levine/Met Orch)

I just love James Levine's conducting and those marvelous Met musicians for a "big band" version of this overture! "It was his bequest to mankind, his appeal to the ideals of humanity. His last work is not Tito or the Requiem; it is Die Zauberflöte. Into the Overture, which is anything but a Singspiel overture, he compressed the struggle and victory of mankind, using the symbolic means of polyphony; working out, laborious working out in the development section; struggle and triumph" ---Alfred Einstein. Recorded in Gasteig philharmonic hall in munich, in 1986, during the "munich piano summer" festival. he has his very own style, that some may dislike, but we cannot deny his musicality, though i think his sound is sometimes a little brutal. It's still a great pleasure to listen to and watch this video. we can see he has fun playing music, and the way he can play and conduct at the same time with such ease shows how much he has integrated the music. enjoy

After our Taylor Swift Coldplay mash-up, lots of people wanted more song combos. This led us to the creation of a cool hip hop mash-up, but again we could not get permission. Instead of scrapping the great ideas, we used them to create an original tune. You will hear influences and inspiration from other artists. Try and guess them. On the recording, Steven Sharp Nelson laid down over 100 tracks including cello textures never known possible. Every single sound on the video was made using only the instruments shown: piano, cello, mouth percussion and kick drum. We utilized some cool effects on lots of stuff...for example the U2-style delay on Steve's pizzicato at the beginning. The extra string on the electric cellos (the black cello has an extra high string and the white cello has an extra low string) allowed us to cover the full range of the orchestra. The deep bass drum sound is a bump on the body of the cello with a little help from some effects. The shaker sound was created by Steve rubbing rosin on his bow. The record scratch is Steve scratching a quarter on the strings <b>...</b>

Mozart, Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, 1st movement, Allegro

The first movement of Mozart's Eine Kleine Nachtmusik ("A Little Night-music"), performed by the Advent Chamber Orchestra, accompanied by a scrolling bar-graph score. FAQ Q: Where can I get the mp3 of this? A: You can download it here: www.musanim.com Q: How did such a lively song get the name of "A Little Night-music"? It would keep me up all night, not prepare me for sleep! A: "Night music" is a literal translation of the German word "Nachtmusik" but like many compound words ("pineapple," "breakfast," "cocktail," "bulldozer," "crabgrass," "horseradish," "hushpuppy," "jellyfish," etc.), the common meaning of the word is far from what you'd expect from the meaning of its components. "Serenade" might be a better translation; this word also needs some interpretation; it originally referred to something serene (like a song sung at night to court a woman), but has come to refer to a multi-movement piece for a small instrumental ensemble. BTW, the second movement of this piece (Romanza), is much more soothing. Q: Is there a way I could make bar-graph scores like this myself? MozART GROUP www.mozartgroup.org

We exist despite the sober formality of great concert halls, despite the boredom of classical musicians' life, despite fanatic lovers of classical music, despite fans of rock, rap or pop who are afraid of classical music. We treat our Muse with a humorous irony and we're sure, she will have nothing against it!" The names that make the moz'ART Group are: Filip Jaslar - first violin; Michał Sikorski - second violin; Paweł Kowaluk - viola; Bolek Błaszczyk - cello. They are all well educated instrumentalists who graduated from prestigious Academies of Music in Warsaw and Łódz, but they decided to play classical music in a humorous way. They created a worldwide unique musical cabaret, where the music, not the words are the source of joy and laugh. Take a classical composition as canvas, analyze its structure and theme, surround it with musical associations, brilliant, unbelievable ideas and while listening to the final product the listener is constantly surprised, amazed, laughing and moved to tears. The musicians of the Moz'ART GROUP have been playing together since 1995. At the beginning, they presented short musical jokes on Canal Plus Television. They gave their first debut in 1997 at the PAKA - competition of young Polish cabarets in Krakow. In the same year, they presented their first cabaret program entitled "Mozart's Still Alive" and since then, they have given concerts in Poland, Japan, China, the United States, Belgium, France and Switzerland. Mozart Sonata for Two Pianos in D, K. 448; 1st movement; Perahia & Lupu

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Radu Lupu Murray Perahia About 15 years ago, neurobiologists from the University of California at Irvine performed an experiment which concluded that listening to K. 448 for 10 minutes was correlated with a temporal increase of 8-9 IQ points. However, they determined that this enhanced intellectual capacity was related to spatial intelligence (the dependent variable), and that it only lasted about 15 minutes. Each of 36 college students was given three treatments (the independent variable) before being tested three respective times: listening to K. 448 for 10 minutes; a relaxation tape for 10 minutes; and sitting in silence for 10 minutes. Directly after each treatment was applied, the test subject was assigned to tackle spatial reasoning exercises (such as paper-folding problems), and the associated score was then converted to a Stanford-Binet intelligence scale. Statistical analyses showed that the mean IQs corresponding to the second and third treatments were not significantly different from one another, but the average IQ for the first treatment was significantly higher than the other two treatments. Requiem Mass in D minor - Lacrimosa

Requiem Mass in D minor, KV 626 - Lacrimosa. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Mozart's Requiem is his last work, written right up to his death in late 1791. It was completed by his pupil, Franz Xaver Süssmayr, and it is this version that is best known today, much due to its authenticity. The Lacrimosa from the Requiem is the last piece of music Mozart put down to paper. Only the opening eight bars were written by Mozart, but this sublime music was enough of a lead for Süssmayr to complete the Lacrimosa effectively, with what I consider to be a seamless job (though no one knows what greater things Mozart no doubt would have had planned for it). Here is the completed Lacrimosa; written by a man who knew his death was nigh, and who had the skill to express this through music, the material is chillingly beautiful, tragic and eternal.

Mozart's Great Mass in C Minor- Kyrie

This piece was written to be performed during the traditional Mass. Because the structure of the Ordinary of the Mass survived the Second Vatican Council, this piece may be performed at non-Latin Masses as well. The Ordinary of the Mass is as follows: 1. Kyrie - "Lord have mercy, Christ have mercy, Lord have mercy." 2. Gloria - "Glory to God in the Highest..." 3. Credo - "We believe in one God..." 4. Sanctus - "Holy, Holy, Holy Lord, God of power and might..." 5. Benedictus - "Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord..." 6. Agnus Dei - "Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world Mozart's Mass has been given the name "Great Mass" because, more so than any other work of the eighteenth century, it summarizes everything that had happened in religious music until its composition in 1782-1783. John Eliot Gardiner conducts the English Baroque Soloists and the Monteverdi Choir in the Kyrie of Mozart's Mass in C Minor, K.427.
