MTA Budget Crisis: NYC Transit and MTA Bus cuts

In a city so dependent on public transportation, it is almost incomprehensible to cut service on the MTA system. But most of these cuts will happen, because no one is offering any help or alternative ideas. These cuts will strand overnight riders of bus routes, and will lead to dangerously overcrowded subways on weekends and middays. They plan on cutting service on the 7!! One of the busiest lines! The MTA wants to balance the budget on our backs, instead of cutting their executive board salaries, or raising bridge tolls. I knew this would happen without Congestion Pricing, and you can thank one man for that, by the name of Sheldon Silver, a true enemy of the people! For a complete list of cuts, go to the PDF's below. mta.info www.mta.info HEARING SCHEDULE: www.mta.info The list is so long I cant even post it here, so read the PDF's and watch the video!

Green Street LI Promotion at Penn Station

LIRR Going your Way Weve always been about moving the greatest number of people, using the least amount of energy. Of course when we started 250 horsepower meant 250 horses. Today we save Long Islanders more than 400 million gallons of gas and an estimated billion dollars every year while keeping tons of pollutants out of the air. Were doing a few other things, too. Our newest electric trains conserve energy, and new composite third rail is easier to handle and install and requires less voltage. At our repair shops, weve added more windows instead of more lamps. Our cleaning staff use environmentally friendly cleaning products, free of toxins and harmful chemicals. And we use recyclable office products. Better still, were bringing green transit to Long Island communities with projects like the Mineola Intermodal Center (mta.info the Jamaica/AirTrain hub (mta.info and the MacArthur Airport Package (mta.info that link rail, bus, airports and light rail systems in clean, comfortable and accessible environments. Its all about making Long Island a better place to live and work.

MTA Cuts Ahead Unless WE ACT with OUTRAGE!

The MTA's shortfall will once again punish the riders who are doing the right thing by taking mass transit. And Paratransit cuts will hurt those who have the least. The MTA and New York state doesn't even seem to have a concience with these cuts. And they can be avoided, but as usual, the rich snobs who burn the most gas and use our resources wont suffer. It's time to REVOLT. Its NOW or NEVER people! MTA Budget Crisis: Long Island Bus service cuts

While the N51 and the N80 were saved, there are even more stunning cuts on this list. Starting this summer, there will be NO BUS SERVICE to Jones Beach whatsoever. Both the N87 and N88, which are heavy ridership routes, will be discontinued! The N94 and N95, which I have seen quite busy (though not as much since the recession) will also be ended. Here's a link to the MTA's Long Island Bus Cuts PDF. www.mta.info PUBLIC HEARING LINK: www.mta.info At least they try to explain the cuts, but the only one I see fit is getting rid of the N93. Other changes could be made, which I will touch on in another video. But these cuts leave too many people stranded! Here's the complete list of cuts for Long Island Bus. • N2- Discontinue the weekday peak period extension to Jamaica due to low ridership, and the availability of alternatives. • N53- Discontinue all service due to low ridership. • N65- Discontinue all service on this specialized school route due to availability of alternative service. • N66- Discontinue all service on this specialized school route due to availability of alternative service. • N67- Discontinue all service on this specialized school route due to availability of alternative service. • N87- Discontinue all service on this specialized seasonal (summer) route. • N93- Discontinue all service due to low ridership. • N3- Discontinue all service due to low ridership and availability of alternatives. • N14- Discontinue midday service due to low ridership (peak period ...

MTA Budget Crisis: LIRR service cuts

The LIRR's proposed service cuts are even worse than what was proposed last year. Gone will be train service east of Ronkonkoma, except on summer weekends. While ridership can be light on the Greenport line, certainly there is enough to at least warrant a shuttle bus. Hampton Jitney IS NOT a substitute because it is MORE EXPENSIVE and DOESN'T CARRY WITHIN LONG ISLAND. That means that anyone needing to get to places like Riverhead, Matituck, and Greenport from anywhere that IS NOT Manhattan will be left stranded. The other cut that will prove to be a huge mess will be reducing off-peak service from half hourly to hourly on the Port Washington line. Years ago it used to run only hourly, and crowding became a huge problem. Now it will be again, and anyone getting on after Great Neck will most likely have to stand. There's many other cuts in service as well. Compared to Metro-North (which I will get into in another video) LIRR is getting hit hard. Here's a complete list of the cuts, preceded by a link to the MTA LIRR cuts PDF. www.mta.info HEARING SCHEDULE LINK: www.mta.info Babylon Branch: Combine 6 peak trains into 3 peak trains Belmont: no service except for the Belmont Stakes Greenport Branch: eliminate all service Hempstead and Ronkonkoma Branches: Reduce length of 2 trains by 2 cars each Long Beach Branch: Cancel 2 peak trains Montauk Branch: Cancel 1 peak train from Hunterspoint Oyster Bay Branch: Cancel one roundtrip each day on weekends Port Jefferson Branch ...
