For the legendary 24-hour race from 23 to 26 June 2011, one of the toughest tests of all in motorsport, Volkswagen has developed a 440-hp race touring car with four-wheel drive based on its top seller. The new "Golf 24" has already reeled off its first kilometres at tests in Portugal and Italy. "With the new Golf24 we are continuing our successful commitment at the Nürburgring 24-hour race. Ogier becomes first factory driver at Volkswagen
Sébastien Ogier has been signed as the first official Volkswagen driver for the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC). The 27-year-old Frenchman and his co-driver Julien Ingrassia (31) are joining the Volkswagen Motorsport squad effective immediately. Ogier, who finished the 2011 WRC in third place, will be instrumental in helping to shape the development of the Polo R WRC for Volkswagen's 2013 entry in the World Rally Championship. Sébastien Ogier heißt der erste offizielle Volkswagen-Pilot für die FIA-Rallye-Weltmeisterschaft (WRC). Der 27-jährige Franzose wechselt mit sofortiger Wirkung zusammen mit seinem Co-Piloten Julien Ingrassia (31) zur Mannschaft von Volkswagen Motorsport.
