Ex-Monkee Michael Nesmith enjoyed three solo hits in Australia during the 70s. Rio reached No.1 in Australia during 1977 (it didn't chart at all in the US) & was his last hit in Oz. He wrote this song & his earlier hits. He became involved in the use of video as a promotional tool & had set up his own production company. This is the original promo video for this song which got played on Australian TV particularly Countdown & so this became a huge hit here. This was four years before MTV in the US ... it might have been successful in the US if the video had been shown like in Oz.

NeSmith Chevrolet Buick GMC in Claxton, Georgia hosted a successful track run on August 27th at Roebling Road Raceway in Bloomingdale, GA. The event included a look under the hood and several high speed demonstrations of the 700 Horsepower NeSmith Storm Camaro LS9. The NeSmith Storm Camaro is one of only 25 Camaros in the world to feature an LS9 Corvette engine, taking it from 400 horsepower to 700. The additional 300 horsepower called for an upgrade from the standard Brimbo brake to a Baer brake 6-piston system all the way around the car. Along with the extra stopping power the Baer brake system supplied, the car also picked up extra weight reduction. The axels were replaced to accommodate up to 1000 horse power. In order to utilize all the horsepower this vehicle is packing, a Hurst short throw shifter was added to quickly run through the gears. Performance wasn't the only thing upgraded on this car. The exterior received a new custom paint job with added racing stripes, ground effects and the car was lowered. Nesmith Storm Camaro made its debut August 3rd. NeSmith Chevrolet in Claxton is one of three "No Hassle" dealerships throughout southeast Georgia.
