Just two weeks after the official roll-out of the new racing car for the 2012 DTM season, BMW presented the BMW M3 DTM Concept Car. Dr. Klaus Draeger, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG responsible for development, and BMW Motorsport Director Jens Marquardt unveiled the car on Friday evening in the Double Cone building at Munich's BMW Welt. As part of the DTM event in the Olympic Stadium, the BMW M3 DTM Concept Car will be on show to motorsport fans and visitors to BMW Welt at the weekend.

Interior and exterior renderings of the next generation 2013/2014 BMW M3 (F80/F8). The M3 coupe may still be called the M4. It is still not known. Personally I hope they don't call the coupe an M4. What is known is that power will come from an all new V6 OR inline-6 (depending on which publication you read) engine that will be powered by twin turbos. The new M3 will have around 450 hp, making it the fastest production model M3 yet, with 0-60 times dropping to an estimated 4.0 seconds.

Back after 20 years: BMW makes its DTM return.
The waiting is over: this weekend, BMW Motorsport will line up at the iconic Hockenheimring for the first race of its comeback season in the DTM. After an absence of almost 20 years, BMW is returning to the series to face a new challenge with three teams and six BMW M3 DTM cars. The race on Sunday marks the return of the BMW M3 to the DTM. The racing version of the sports car made its debut 25 years ago, and promptly won the DTM title at the first attempt. Now, as BMW M celebrates its 40th anniversary, the car is back again to perform in front of its many fans in the DTM.

In the same year, 1987, the German Touring Car Championship (DTM) also went to the new BMW M3, with Eric van de Poele behind the wheel.
