PIEBALD DEER OHIO, POSSIBLE NEW SPECIES?!

Is this a new species of Deer in Ohio? It's possible, look at the mutations, and when it runs away, it does not lift it's distracting tail like other Whitetails? A very rare, and real glimpse at a mythical Ohio creature. Piebald deer are a beautiful, but rare sight, that many of us will never be fortunate enough to see, let alone get a shot at! A piebald Whitetail has spotted, blotchy, or white patches of fur where there should be brown fur instead. This odd coloring can range from very small, random amounts of misplaced white fur to the whole deer being almost solid white. Even if they are almost completely white, the piebald still has brown eyes, a brown nose, and black hooves, unlike a true albino Whitetail deer. A true albino has pink eyes, a pink nose, and greyish colored hooves. It is a genetic defect in the piebald, that produces this splotchy discoloration, and the inherited trait comes from a defective, recessive gene. Studies show that one in every 2000 to 3000 Whitetails, will have this color variation, although it may be more common in areas where they are protected. Though a piebald is considered fair game, and a highly prized trophy in its own right, there are a few groups that try to keep them from being harvested, due to their rarity. Along with the discoloration, a piebald may also have many various defects. These defects can include shorter legs, an arching spine, a bowing of the nose, heart defects, and other internal deformities. Besides the possible ...

New species of marine life at the world's deepest known volcanic vents

Footage from the first exploration of the Beebe Vent Field (depth ~5000 metres - the world's deepest known hydrothermal vents) and the Von Damm Vent Field (depth ~2300 metres) in the Cayman Trough of the Caribbean, during RRS James Cook Voyage 44 in March-April 2010. This compilation was released to the media in January 2012 to coincide with publication of the vent discoveries in the scientific journal Nature Communications (Connelly DP, Copley JT, Murton BJ, Stansfield K, Tyler PA et al. New Amphibian Discovered in India

Dig, baby, dig, and you just might find yourself a new species. A new kind of burrowing caecilian has been discovered in northeastern India. Researchers from the University of New Delhi discovered the legless, squirmy amphibians after 5 years of research and over 230 digs. The species resembles earthworms and lives underground under dense forests. Researchers are concerned for the newly discovered amphibian however, as the dig site was very close to civilization. Some locals have also reportedly killed the strange creatures for fear they were poisonous snakes. New species, close to a settlement, this is perfect fodder for Bollywood writers or the creators of Tremors ... the Attack of the Killer Caecilians!

New species of Pokémon? Plascat is found!

Yes indeed, apaprently my classmate Ira and I have found a new species of Pokémon. Since it's one never seen before, we had the chance to name it. Ira decided on the name Plascat, derived from the words "plastic" and "cat". My dad told me he would've liked "Cattic" more, which I can understand. Possibly Cattic is Plascat's evolution. I know my classmate Tiffany also received a piece of plastic similar to mine, and we both got it from the same girl. So if Plascat's a Pokémon, then Tiffany's piece of plastic must be one as well.

Extreme Dinosaurs: Science Of Giants (BBC Documentary)

Please Subscribe To The EvolutionDocumentary YouTube Channel: www.youtube.com Broadcast (2002) Amazing new discoveries in South America are revolutionising what we thought we knew about the dinosaur world. It now seems that South America was home to both the largest meat-eater - so new it's still without a name - and the largest herbivore - the enormous long-necked Argentinasaurus. And what's more, these dinosaurs lived at the same time in the same place. So it's possible that like in a science fiction movie, in this prehistoric world these two giants of their kind fought each other in a spectacular clash of the Titans. Horizon follows the scientists to Argentina as they unearth one of these giants - a brand new species of dinosaur; the biggest carnivore ever discovered. Not yet named, this new creature is even bigger than T. rex, the so-called 'king' of the carnivores. The new giant South American predator had a skull bigger than a man that was full of serrated, knife-like teeth and long powerful jaw muscles. They could dissect their prey with almost surgical precision. But even this formidable killing machine couldn't alone have taken on the massive long-neck, Argentinasaurus, which was the height of a five-storey building. It must have hunted in a pack. The problem is, the mega-meat-eaters have always been assumed to have been solitary creatures. The evidence shows that they lived and hunted alone. If they weren't pack hunters, then they would never have attacked ...

euronews science - Extinction of species accelerating

www.euronews.net Scientists are calling it The Sixth Mass Extinction; species are dying off faster than at any time since the dinosaurs disappeared 65 million years ago. It is estimated that around 30000 species become extinct each year. In January, 100 EU researchers and policy experts met at Copenhagen University to discuss this biodiversity crisis. It is thought that previous mass extinctions were due to natural causes: asteroids, volcanic erruptions and climate evolution. The current mass extinction is primarily caused by humans.
New Species of the Deep

The most comprehensive survey ever undertaken of the world's oceans has uncovered around 6000 potential new species. The first ever Census of Marine Life, which has taken a decade to complete, estimates the number of known species to increased from 230000 to nearly 250000. As pictured here is a new species of hydromedusae, common at depths below 1000 metres, which was found by a remotely operated vehicle in the seas around the Arctic.
