Sky-Watcher maksutov-newtonian Telescope

The exciting new Mak-Newtonian from Sky-Watcher is just what astrophotographers and serious visual observers have been looking for. Tube Materials The optical tube material is rolled steel, powder-coated reflective gloss black with gold fleck accent. The front and back cells are cast-aluminum painted white, or black. Precision 2 Crayford Focuser is Standard Optical focus is achieved by means of a mechanically ultra-smooth, backlash-free, precision 2 Crayford focuser-assembly. This focuser offers fine and ultra-fine focusing adjustments. The Mak-Newtonian design provides large aperture apochromatic performance with exceptional field correction in a compact, affordable package. Compared to a similarly sized Schmidt-Newtonian, the Mak-Newtonian yields a sharper and more constrasty image. Naturally, the Mak-Newtonian is an excellent visual performer, too. Schott Glass Sky-Watcher Maksutov-Newtonian Series benefit from the inclusion of Schott glass being used for the positive front Crown element in the objective. Schott is the recognized world leader in glass utilized for precision optical lens systems, including medical instrumentation, and famous-brand camera lenses. Achromatic refractor vs Newtonian reflector - Jupiter

This brief review compares the performance on planetary visual/astrophotography of a pair of 6 inch (150mm) of aperture telescopes. The footage above corresponds to a Jupiter as seen through a Sky-Watcher 150mm f/8 Achromat Refractor OTA. It shows better contrast but a clear secondary spectrum. The footage below is Jupiter seen through a 150mm 6" F5 Newtonian telescope. It delivers lower contrast but it lacks of any chromatic aberration. Moon Seen Through a Jason 750 76mm F9.9 Newtonian Telescope

This scope has been through hell and back, I purchased it for under 20 dollars because it had a couple of dents, one so bad I had to modify the top to put the tube back to round..sorta. Anyway, this is about as good as the views get with this scope, but I'm more than satisfied with it, and wouldn't ever part with it. It's kind of the old man of the lot..16 - 17?..maybe more, of scopes I own, and is an excellent grab and go scope. Does a nice job on planets also, if I ever get to capturing them with this I'll send them up This was taken on Marc 17th 2011
