Canucks vs Kings Western Quarterfinals Montage 2010
Montage I made for the first round series between the Canucks and Kings. You'll notice the montage is very pro Vancouver which was not by design. I only used HD clips and the source I used only had the games Vancouver won and the goals Vancouver scored. I'm not a fan of either team, but wanted to practice my editing skills a bit. There is just something about this song... It's more than just a cash-in on a television show. It's more than just album filler. It's more than just another song. It's actually quite a moving and sincere song- song. All parties involved; Ron Hicklin, John Bahler, Tom Bahler, Jackie Ward, Well Farrell, Eddie Singleton (and others I'm certain I'm neglecting-not by design!) succeeded in creating a unique style for the recordings of the Partridge Family and this song is one of the best to come from that team. David Cassidy always amazes me for the fact that from my now-adult perspective, the songs sound even better now than when I was a kid watching the show. The performance is always flawless but not anti-septic; perfect but not emotionally empty. "Brand New Me" is the sort of song my brothers and I would have been playing on road trips to our grandparents' house. We always had to have Al Green, The Temptations, Earth Wind and Fire playing on the 8-track (!) There were certain songs with a certain groove that fit an adventurous and fun night-time road trip and this song has just that sort of feeling or "vibe" about it. The "flavor" is something mellow and yet it does have that "groove"- you can't name it, but you know it when a song hits you right where your heart beats. Again, that "soulful" feeling can sometimes be found in the places you'd least expect...

Sorry if the video scrolls a bit fast, hit the pause button or more info to see the static review here below: Vault of Eagles, Avenge Vulture Attack, Grace The Skies and Not By Design @ The Flapper and Firkin, Birmingham -- 08/12/2011 As 8pm rolls up and the doors are still not open at the Flapper, word reaches our ears that headliners' Avenge Vulture Attack are chronically late and have only just soundchecked. Nevertheless, as the clock strikes 8.10, Not By Design take to the stage and open the evening to a meagre ¼ capacity crowd with the rhythm of jagged new-wave indie. Sadly, their sound is slightly marred by a half asleep soundman who appears to think that excessive bass is the only way to compensate for a lack of second guitar (a theme that will continue throughout the evening). However, considering that this is their debut gig, NBD put on a good show and although at times vocalist Alex Wareham runs slightly flat, his dynamic presence shows promise for this young band. Next up are the utterly contrasting Grace The Skies who begin their set with a well intended piece of sampling that falls foul to a slight timing gremlin with drummer Mark. Other than this, however, GTS play a tight and accurate brand of modern metal where razor sharp guitars marry to sing-along vocals that create a heavy yet commercial sound that could take them far. Mister Mulligan Maiden
The maiden flights were successful, if not a bit harrowing. The first thing noticed by a friend was that the left wing was warped. I had not noticed it myself, but when he pointed it out it was very obvious. The warp looked like it would induce a rolling moment to port. The first flight: I walked out to the runway, and the wind was blowing a right to left pattern. I tried to ROG and the plane instantly got squirrelly and did ground loops. After a few attempts I realized the wind had switched 180° and so I tried to ROG going the opposite direction and got airborne. The wind was estimated to be blowing about 4 or 5 knots. Mister Mulligan, at full power on the stock included 7-cell 600 mAh NiMh battery, did not have enough beans to fly forward and gain any ground. I struggled to get the airplane back over the runway. This was complicated by the plane wanting to roll left, and my having to counter with right rudder. So basically, the plane could not move. It could not fly forward, and to prevent a rollover I had to give right rudder, which prevented the plane from moving left back over the runway. Eventually I got it close enough and it ran out of forward power anyway and came down on the edge of the strip. Light damage, only one landing gear fairing came loose at the top. While on the runway, I switched out the stock battery to a 3S 730 mAh LiPo. The second flight: Instant power! At least triple the power as before. Mister Mulligan leaped into the air!
