Classic Match Ole Gunnar Solskjaer put Manchester United's first-choice strikers in the shade with 10 stunning minutes as a substitute. The Norwegian scored four times against Nottingham Forest as Alex Ferguson's side racked up a Premiership record away victory. Until Solskjaer's introduction, it had been more of the Dwight Yorke-Andy Cole show, with a brace of goals from each striker as Forest boss Ron Atkinson was introduced to the harsh reality of life at the bottom of the Premiership. Cole's two goals celebrated not only his England recall, but his recall to the side too - he had been left on the bench by Ferguson for Wednesday's victory over Derby. But back in the starting line-up alongside close friend Yorke, Cole - with England caretaker-coach Howard Wilkinson believed to be at the City Ground watching him - proved too hot to handle. Yorke put United in front inside 85 seconds and after Alan Rogers equalised on six minutes, Cole, who was born in Nottingham, showed Wilkinson his finishing power. First, he restored the visitors' lead straight from the restart after Rogers' strike, racing onto Jaap Stam's long ball and rounding Dave Beasant before firing into the empty net from a tight angle. Then, on 49 minutes and after squandering a hat-trick of chances, Cole completed his double, running in to drill the ball beneath Beasant after the Forest keeper had failed to hold onto Yorke's low drive. The Highlights from the famous 4-3 for Sheffield United over Nottingham Forest in 2003 at Bramall Lane. The game has often been described as one of the greatest in recent history for the Blades, despite failure in the Final against Wolves. Apologies for the lack of audio, but when I edited it for some reason the audio came out of synch with the video. I would have put some music to it but i couldn't think of an appropriate track to go with it. If I come across one I will probably re-upload with the track. I do not own the footage on display, I am merely appreciating it, and are allowing fellow Blades or other footy fans to re-witness one of the greatest nights in this clubs' history. The Hour Chime at Nottingham City Council House, including the hour strike on Little John.
The bells in the Great Dome of the Council House in Market Square, Nottingham, United Kingdom, strike 10am. They strike the Westminster quarters, with the 4th Quarter Jack weighing just over 3 tons, before finally tolling the hour on the great bell, Little John, which weighs 10 tons, 7 cwt, and 27 lbs. Little John is named after the character in the tales of Robin Hood which is associated with the county of Nottinghamshire. The bells were cast in 1928 by John Taylor & Co, Loughborough, on completion of the new Council House building. They have been tolling ever since. These were the deepest toned clock chime in Great Britain until the connecting of Great Peter to the clock at York Minster in 2000. Great Peter is about 9 cwt heavier and hence there is literally a matter of a couple of hertz in it! These bells are really superb, and sound absolutely fantastic both close up and outside. Apologies for the poor sound recording, they are quite deafening up close. It is a pity that these never formed the base bells for a Carillon (there is certainly space up there), or were ever hung for swing chiming. Better still, hung for English Full Circle Ringing!
